Refueled my Prius C for the third time on Saturday at odometer 1613 miles, purchased 07/20/13. Exactly 500.0 miles covered between September 22 and October 26. MFD 62.4 mpg with remaining cruising range 7 miles. Filled up with 8.432 gallons for actual 59.3 mpg. Elapsed driving time 24 hours 32 minutes at average 20.4 mph. Ran 289.1 miles (58%) in EV. Fuel gauge shows 1 pip and did not blink or beep with only 7 miles range remaining. Mostly suburban driving about 10.7 miles each way to work in moderate traffic that often prevents optimum hypermiling. Began this tank with a 35 mile trip on the hilly Merritt Parkway where I got 55.5 mpg, which pulled down the tank average mpg compared to the later driving. Temperatures getting colder in October so mpg has decreased from previous tank. Connecticut is hilly. I get the engine turned off whenever going downhill and often on level road - hence 58% EV. Always in ECO mode. A great car.

  8. Wait, I'm confused.
When my fuel display went from 2 bars of fuel to 1 bar of fuel, my display blinks, I get a beep, and my cruising range said 0 miles and stays that way until I fill up. But yours didn't blink or beep and your range says 7 miles. Are certain Prius Cs programmed differently in this regard?

There is a small window of time where you can have 1 bar and no blinks. But then, I've seen blinking with 10 miles remaining.

My prius c 2, I have never gotten a beep, if I remember correctly I drove on 1 bar for several days before it started blinking.

I fueled up last night. The cooler weather is nice, no AC use for that tank. What sucks is the electric opening gate at the end of the driveway is busted so during my warm up cycle I have to let the car idle while I open it up and close it manually. I hate letting the car run with nowhere to go..

  12. Weird, I haven't seen that. So, does that mean you have 1.5 gallons when it blinks or when you have 1 bar (but no blinking)?

~1.5 when the car says you have 0 miles remaining.

Nope. it will say 0 and the bar will flash the entire time. :D You must have a strong constitution in order to play Hybrid Roulette. :ROFLMAO: Nah, it's not bad. The car is very consistent and reliable.

If my mpg indicator says 57 I should be abel to go over 500 miles. so far the most it has been off was just over 2 mpg. so if it was off 3mpg I would actually get 54 instead of the indicated 57 54x9.4=507 miles.

I have always waited until 500 miles to fill up. but this tank I am doing an test to see how the car does driving like a teenager with dads gas card. so far the indicator says 56. I must say it gives me some weird satisfaction to make sure nobody passes me. however this driving style is making 500 miles on a tank a little iffy:)

Wow y'all have some pretty high mpg in here! New owner of a prius c1 for a week now. Love the car! The highest I have been able to get it up to so far is 56.9mpg. But usually averages in the 54mpg. I also drive it the best I can to get the best mpg but not getting the #'s yall are getting. Maybe it's b/c it hasn't gotten above 50 degree's here since I've bought it?....

I think the temp is your biggest problem. I block my upper and lower grill with pipe insulation if temp is under 70. On the prius c the bottom is open and the engine still cools fine, this seems to help a little. tire pressure is also a big one. do those two things and if you drive in town much you will likely see some improvements(y)

Pretty soon if the swap is approved, my current one way commute is 21 miles (2 miles of that is local streets) and my new commute would be 3.8 miles 100% local roads with maybe 7 stop signs and 10 traffic lights...might be interested to see how my average electric usage (currently 21% out of 21,000 miles) would be like later! ;)

You may experience decreased MPG due to your short commute. My commute on local streets is 6.2 miles one way. I get poor mileage because the engine warm up is about 1/4 of that distance. Bad days are 43-53MPG. Average MPG is 53 for this trip. Today with grill block, a warm day (75F) in lighter traffic, I got 68 MPG. On very warm summer days with careful driving, I have (rarely) seen 69-73MPG for this same trip.
