Toyota hybrid price reductions on the way...

This article is encouraging, but I don't regret my '06 Prius purchase ($26K for package 6 in the Bay Area) one bit.

 

Other than the Prius the Toyota hybrids are not selling well at all. Even in this area the premium paid for Priuses will soon be a thing of the past.

 

Other than ?????????????????????????????????????? GM vehicles are not selling well at all. Even in ???????????????????????????? area the $$$$ paid for a GM vehicle prove to be a waste the first day you drive your vehicle off the dealer's lot.

 

Where do you get the yearly or quarterly sales numbers for specific vehicles? Can you give me a link?

Yes and no. Technically, yes, but a generous trade in reduced the cash price.

Sorry, i lumped Lexus in with toyota.

 

From a couple of toyota dealers i know. They say the factory is jamming the suv hybrids.

 

the highlander and rx400h are comparable to the accord hybrid in purpose. that is, they have none... other than to try to create more power and appeal to the typical macho american testosterone junkie. it was an attempt at creating an "in" into the wrong market.

we'll see what happens when the cam-hy comes out. it's not a power-junkie hybrid, it's an MPG focused hybrid.

 

Do you know what the price premium and mileage bonus will be? honestly I think toyota may have made a mistake unless there is at least a 20% gain in mileage and the premium is less than $3000.

Quote is correct. The Japanese city test is close to optimal driving conditions, and is only useful for comparison purposes, just like our EPA.

So translated into EPA, the Fit hybrid will see 50 - 60 mpg in EPA testing.

 

There was an article linked to a CH review earlier this week, and the "as tested" price was 30K (with the optional nav). So I'd figure 25K without the nav and whatever else comes with it (and that's probably a lowball figure).

 

I will have some by the March 6th Auto News. I have heard on the rumor mil that Toyota is trying to squelch the article even as they are making production cuts.

 

What publication is this specifically? Do they have an online version?

Please for everyone's benefit (in avoiding unnecessary arguments over speculation) don't mention anything from the "rumor mill." That's the whole reason I was asking for references in the first place.
