4th generation coming 2015!

I'm not really sure but my first Prius was an 04 so maybe it was people who bought the first year for the Gen.2 ?

 

Mostly so-called 'pioneers,' meaning people who bought the Prius sight unseen.

 

Any chance they will take other Prius evangelists for this next go around?

Yesterday the most recent issue of Consumer reports arrived. I was interested in pictures and reports of two, 2015 automobiles. Which begs a question:
Is Toyota's absolute (and effective) security surrounding the G4 ... normal?
Or, might it suggest the G4 is not quite ready, and Toyota is not committing themselves until all the details are finalized?

Toyota revealed Prius then. It was an amazing technological achievement, all done in secrecy as a result of having been excluded from the PNGV program. They decided to develop an high-efficiency design on their own... and passed the Detroit automakers in the process. They had a fully functional vehicle already.

That wasn't the shocking part though. What amazed the world was the announcement that it would be available for sales just 2 months later.

Think about that when you consider what Toyota's next steps may be. They have a diverse & profitable offering which continues to be improved. That ultimate goal of replacing traditional production is growing more and more realistic.

 

Toyota had Caldina units as mules for some time. Fitting THS in the final body was late in the process...

 

G4 isn't ready. It might not even be ready in winter of 2015 either.
But, G4 will knock your socks off. Especially the plugin version.
G4 is such a pretty car, I will break protocol and make sure I have the first plug in I can get my hands on! In the past, I have patiently waited for the line to dwindle. Not this one.
I also want to say that while some expect the Prius sales for 2014 to be slow, I do not. The incentives for us in Southern CA totally rock, and it's got to be the best selling car in CA right now. Both the 2013 and 2014 sell well and will continue to. Reasons are familiarity, reliability, and trustworthiness... and the amazing deals!
That's all I will say about this right now.

 

Thanks, Dianne, for the positive vibes on the next version. If I am unable to buy a PiP in or near Illinois, I will probably set something up with you, so I might be seeing you in 15-18 months or so. I'll bring a couple extra pairs of socks.

 

Dianne's message was encouraging, especially the visual praise; and it was a little disappointing (the fact that it is not ready) perhaps, not even by the winter, 2015. OUCH!!

I have mixed emotions about the plug-in. Given what I know right now,I have no interest in the plug-in (only personal ... it just does not meet my driving needs) I know other really appreciate it and can take advantage of the plug-in. I guess I am saying, I just hope the plug-in is a separate feature that those who want/need it can pay the extra cost, but not every buyer.

My 2010 has a lot of miles on it, but thankfully, it will make it until the G4 arrives.

 

What is your commute like?

 

FYI I said May Not Be ready ... When the rest of the 2015 product arrives. But everything gets here in its time. Look at it this way. We got the 2010 at the end of May, 2009. That car popped out months early!
And FYI the plugin version of Prius is now a separate model than a Prius altogether. That's probably not gonna change. Some of us need the phev for our own reasons, such a HOV stickers or short enough commute to make it worthwhile. They will keep that model separate, still, I bet.

 

I for one love the bridge and instrument layout!!! Now I never rest my leg on the center in any car so thats a non issue, and if I did it hits the bridge anyway. Could there be more storage compartments, hell yea. Does the center arm rest pose an issue, not for me I can still rest my arm on it. The door ones are on the other hand wayyyyyy too low.

 

It would be excellent if the next generation Prius offers 4WD and blind spot detection - 2 very important features that can mitigate accidents and save lives. Toyota take note!

4WD is going to add a good deal more weight to the car and decrease mileage so i suspect you wont see 4WD in the prius anytime soon.

 

I assume you mean AWD not 4WD. There is actually a pretty big difference. And AWD is much safer than 4WD, especially on a Prius. And yes, it would increase safety some, but not as much as you would think.

 

Dianne, There are very few on PC that would dispute whatever you say. Your post are well respected.

There are many of us that are watching and anxiously waiting for the G4. Your post, implied, that you had information that none of us have .... and many of us gravitated towards it. Okay, you did say "may" but when someone that seems to have information, and says the G4 may not be ready, even by the winter of 2015 ... it is big news.

Lee Jay ask as very good question. Does your comment apply to the whole Prius family, or just the plug-in?

If I had to guess, I would think the regular and PiP will come out at the same time. And then the C and V will be out a year after that (maybe 2).
