Has anyone received a CA Green HOV Sticker yet?

seems as the recent applications have turned around as quick as 2 weeks. Anymore recent sticker timeline?? I mailed mine in on 10/07 and hoping to get it soon!

PiP's are starting to proliferate in the Bay Bridge toll plaza HOV lanes. We'll probably see you there soon.

 

Didn't know but my dealership (DCH Toyota of Torrance) actually ordered the HOV stickers for me. About two weeks after I got my car they called me to let me know that my HOV stickers were in . My HOV Stickers actually came faster than my license plate. Two thumbs up for DCH Toyota of Torrance!!!

On the way to the 40,000 limit for the green decals (plug-in hybrids), as I recall. When the limit was reached on the old yellow decals, the decals would add a couple of thousand (!) dollars to the resale value of the car; probably the same will happen for this round.

 

That would be awesome! I can see myself selling my PiP for $25k in 2016 and picking up the "affordable" Tesla model 3. White stickers have no limit, right? We can dream.

I sent in my app on 11/07, check was processed on 11/23 and posted to my account on 11/26.

Dealers are now ordering stickers before they are sold. You can drive off the lot with stickers on!

 

I wonder how they can do that, as the DMV (at least in Ca) requires that a permanent license plate number be assigned to the vehicle before a sticker is issued. One would assume that issuing a permanent plate number would require a registered owner. OTOH, it would be a nice incentive to buy that the salesperson could use.

 

Its based on the VIN now (maybe always?). License plate numbers can change at any time (vanity plates, etc). The stickers are tied to the car and not the owner. This will obviously get the number of issued stickers to rise more quickly. Some people don't get stickers ( ).

 

Well, the Ca DMV website, as of a few minutes ago, still states that the license plate number/registration must be issued to the buyer and the form REG 1000 filled out completely before stickers will be issued. Here's the link, and if you scroll down to the FEQs numbers 7 and 9 explain it pretty well. If the dealer has someone physically go to the DMV office and obtain registration and plates, and then fills out the application and has the buyer sign it, that would speed the process along. But the stickers would still be sent to the registered owner.

There is a different form for dealers and also the option of an electronic process. The form linked above is a very interesting read. They are basically "Pre-registering" the stickers. The buyer still fills out the normal form at purchase, but no license is needed and the fee has been already paid.

 

i bought my prius 2 weeks ago and the dealer told me they took care of everything and will call me when they receive the stickers. waiting is not fun at all.

 

All of those pretty plugins lined up on the dealer lots will now have green stickers on them all.

 

The program started in September and most dealers are only starting to do it now. Once the dealer gets their internal process nailed down, the stickers will be placed on the car when they get it ready to put on the lot.
