I get the jokes from friends and lately attitude from truck drivers, especially bad here in WV where the Marcellus drilling is big and the gas company's give a lot of these young punks keys to jacked up trucks. Doesn't matter what u drive or ride there is always someone out there that is a hater. Just like me hating on jacked up trucks, see told ya :)

I got some grief from my sister who equates Prius ownership to extreme liberal views. Tree hugging Californians.

She drove it for the first time recently and said she really liked it and was wrong for bashing it without knowing anything about it.

There's a reason that the Prius is so popular - it's a well made car that pushes the envelope of technology and gets exceptional fuel economy.

I have only one thing to say when people make fun of my car. 50 miles per gallon. That's all that needs to be said.

Oil companies are horrified by the Hybrid success. This is why they fight back and spread all that negative propaganda on internet/social media.

Look up "astroturfing" Astroturfing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You comment about “gay or whimpy” is stereotypic and insulting. I now own my second Prius and am gay. I find your comment very insulting. Americans often look down on energy efficient vehicles.

A haters job is to hate… they have nothing else.. but all those who laugh at my Prii, I laugh all the way to the bank, especially when I get to continue to drive past the gas pumps… Got it down to a science now, so much fun only having to fill up twice a month of pretrial, compared to my BMW where I was fueling every week for the same amount of driving… lol actually less, because now I drive twice as much and still use less fuel…

Besides, its MY car, its MY choice and the day they start paying my car payment and my bills is the day they can choose what I drive...

    Team Prii all the way!

I take the good-natured ribbing from my boss / friend about my Prius. He likes to ask about what kind of lipstick it uses and how often I need to change it. I tell him the Prius' lipstick supply will last longer than the head bolts in the Northstar engine of his old Eldorado.

The negative connotation's of this car comes from the Red States crowd. There entire mantel is green is bad, anti pollution is bad, and there is no such thing as Global Warming. Their leaders have a vested interest in making sure the Prius is a failure. Because they are owned lock, stock, and (literally) barrel by big oil. Can't imagine the horror that would have been unleashed if Mitt was elected. Watch the documentary on the Koch Bro's. Wow.
Those are some evil people who only care about lining there pockets. How much money is enough?
Last thing Big Oil needs is a Prius in every garage. Too bad because the air pollution would improve immensely.

Watch the movie "Who killed the electric car". Nothing much has changed. I voted for Obama but I'm pissed because there is still no serious energy initiative. Should be 100% tax write off on any solar product you buy and hook to the power grid. In 20 years the Gov't is going to have to spend 10 times the money they would lose on that tax break to improve air quality. Shut coal fired power plants off. Global warming is going to get us.

Not sure when this country is going to get it's head out of its nice person and start looking down the road 25 years.
In the meantime we have a veritable army of redneck idiots going out of there way like they have something to gain putting the car down. Because that's the way they have been taught.

You can't go on a You Tube video without some moron calling the Prius gay. Like we care.

Exactly. Who created that stereotype? Extreme liberal views means "commie" in that crowd.

Pity that some people don't like a car that gets 66.3 mpg on a 20.9 mile ride home from work. I guess people must like that "quality time" they spend at the gas station.

My wife was startled the first time an F-250 roared by us and "flipped the bird". Since I have owned my 2012 I have been flipped off several times by pickup or large SUV drivers but I smile when I pull into Costco and fill up and one of those vehicles is paying $100 next to me. A couple weeks ago I was passed by a big 4x4 pickup (may have been a RAM) that had a sign in the box saying it "Eats Prius's for breakfast". You have to have a thick skin to drive one of these cute little cars.

What part of Minnesota do you live in? I have never had road rage issues driving my car around the Twin Cities area or even rental Prii in other parts of the state. The MN State Troopers encourage drivers to call in any and all road rage incidences with plate numbers if you can get them. They do follow up with tickets and in some cases arrests. My wife had such a deal years ago and got the plate. Later that evening we got the call about the arrest. Someone tried running her off the road and it later turned out that driver had prior dealings with the law.

I love owning a Prius and could care less what people think. My daily drive is an Audi Q5 and my wife drives the Prius. I find it interesting when I'm driving the Prius that people seem to be more aggressive and tailgate more even though I'm driving fast. In fact, I usually have people trying to pass on the right when I'm going 75+ in the middle lane on a 3 lane highway. Once they pass me then they slow down. I usually drive similar speeds in the Audi and I don't experience that kind of driving. Something about the Prius drives them bonkers. At the end of they day it costs me 6 cents/mile to drive the Prius vs 16 cents in the Q5. That's a huge plus!

Being in the SF Bay Area, where the Prius is widely accepted, I haven't had anyone in a gas guzzler do that to me.

However, last week, there was a douche bag in a Tesla Model S (of all cars!), tailgating me and veering left to right as if to look at how far back I was from the car ahead of me. I was driving my daughter to school so naturally it pissed me off. I promptly lowered my window, gave him the one-finger salute, and he backed off.

Douche bags come in all shapes and sizes apparently!

Down here in this area the one finger salute usually draws fire.

Lol, you are probably right. However, I do have sense enough to determine who I would it to.

    Model S driver? - YES!

Hillbilly flying a Confederate flag? - NO!!!!

I live in an area of the South loaded with big gas guzzler pickups and SUVs and nobody ever bothers me.
