We just bought a new Prius II (2013) 6 days ago and had rain. We noticed condensation in both the front headlight and back tail light. This is under the plastic covering. This doesn't seem right. We searched and found a class action suit for the previous generation prius. Is this a problem for anyone? What have you done? Do we need to be concerned about this? Help, please? (my first post as a newbie).
Also try posting in the Gen II forum. Oh, NVM, you said Gen II but actually have a Gen III sounds like.
I had this problem on a another new car, and the dealer replaced both lights under warranty. Though you may have to distinguish between a sealed light which is defective vs. just some moisture got in to the open light socket hole, which can possibly be aired out (some Gen2 posts on this issue).
If you read your manual carefully, it states that condensation in the lens is temporarily. The first few days I had my new prius, I noticed condensation. After that, I have never seen it come back. Of course if you have water droplets coating the entire inside and the lens holds enough water that it could be an aquarium, I'd be concerned! good luck.
I noticed some in mine as well after a car wash. I'll let it sit for another day and if it stays I'm gonna bring it in
This is the fix for headlight condensation for Prius 2010 or higher models. Try to find a dirty sand color spot where the V section of the headlight is on the top. This v section is where the side fender cuts into the headlight. At home Depot fine a clear silicone for $3 cut the tip of the tube and squeeze it through the small opening between headlight and fender. This fixed my condensation issue. Right way is to disassemble the headlight and apply silicone or adhesive.
