Just bought mama a pearl white one today and we love it..only drawback it doesn't have nav or backup cam.is it a big deal to add a cam setup or is the screen not capable.either way its beautiful,w tan leather seats,30k miles super clean, does anyone know when to use eco, ev modes?
Use EV mode in parking lots when looking for a place. Eco is one of 3 throttle mapping modes, the others are normal and power. Eco in addition uses less power for the ac and heat to try and stretch mileage. Those who seem to get the best fuel mileage results prefer Eco.
Awesome color choice PWR mode gives me the best MPG's. There are a few threads on the forum about what mode does what. PWR mode also gives you the most electric torque output using partial throttle. Right foot to the floor puts out the same torque in ECO, Normal & PWR modes. Mike
Called the dealer today and asked about the cam.they told me $297 for camera installed. That seems reasonable for parts and labor.sound good?
Congratulations , great color , Eco mode , tire pressures 44 front 42 rear And if you lived in cold climates , block the grill , have fun
It worked great for me with my 2010. The last few blocks of my drive home were usually that way. Climbing up the short residential hill wouldn't have been possible using electricity without that extra power the mode provides.
the Backup Camera is Original Toyota? if it is, yap "ok" good deal with including labor. if you are handyman. that is pretty easy to install aftermarket Camera from ebay. there is a thread for installing aftermarket backup camera. I just did 2 weeks ago for 2013 two, should be the same installation on your 2012. check the thread. I downloaded PDF from that thread for 2013 two. total cost: 1) my 2 hours wasted time , this is priceless 2) Prius Backup camera for $20 on ebay ( search on Prius 2012 backup camera or rear view camera) 3) Soldering tools( already have), this is needed to convert 12V-3.3V to 6V-3.3V. a cheap multimeter(bought on ebay for $4). 4) utility knife (alread have). this is needed to remove plastic molding to get access Voltage regulator board (point# 3) 5) read the PDF to know there cables for backup camera connection, on driver lower side panel. 6) watch , just to need to know on how to remove plastic panels. 7) plastic panel removal, $5 from harbor freight. Total price: $20+$4$5 = ~$30.
Yes. But you will lower your mpg by using the ev mode to drive like that 99% of the time, So I think it is useless to do it.
Why dismiss those opportunities we find that takes advantage of it? After all, 99% of the vehicles ever produced & sold have been guzzlers.
Exactly, and if the battery is low, when you start out on the next trip in a regular Prius, the engine is going to start anyway. May as well put it to good use. I used EV all the time in the last few blocks going home in my 2010.
I use ECO mode because I like the easy slow speed. But some times I drive my wife"s camry and when I touch the gas pedal, I feel like I am drag racing.
