Got a 2013 Prius three in October. The navigation options allow for 2D north heading, 2D heading and 3D. In either of the 2D options, neither the north arrow or the location pointer on the map will will point to true north. My 2010 Prius navigation system always showed me true north. I set it so the North Arrow in the upper left corner pointed north. Took the 2013 into the Dealer today and they were unable to get it to work. As of now, the dealer is in the process of checking out the cause and possible fix. They checked this out on another new Prius on the lot and found it to be having the same problem. Any ideas?
U are sure 2010 system does true north? what if the poles switch in 2025? all the system does north up followin the gride lines. U maybe confuse with the picture shown on the system back in 2010. Where is north on Google Maps?
The old arrow up button you mentioned is just 2D North. Same setting as the 13. Like Zephyr said, everything uses the grid method.
Toyota did some research on my north arrow issue and told me that the 2013 Prius three navigation system no longer has a compass heading indicator in the "2D heading" setting. He said it wasn't important to have this indicator since most people didn't need it. Both he and I were former pilots and still have a need to know the direction that we are going. But I get it. Why include something that increases cost if most people don't use it. Case closed!
