Average age for a Prius Driver

I thought not responding to like minded car owners was a Brit "tight lipped" thing! I thought all you Yanks were a friendly bunch and am a bit disappointed to hear of A Reyes' experience. It could be that the Prius is still treated suspiciously by most drivers and so they are a bit "cagey" about acknowledging anyone driving one!
All I can say is this Forum is great and you can get a lot of valuable help and advice here - long may it continue!

 

I'm 33 and here in Ireland most Prius drivers are at least 50+

 

My wife and I are both 64 and we each have our own 2010. That's 128 Prius years under one roof. Can anybody beat that?

 

I just bought a 2011 Prius II and I am 19! Ripped the dealership off by making them swallow over 2000 dollars of the 2200 negative equity, and drop the price of the car 3000 off of KBB. Let's just say I got the BEST deal possible. OH and told them I got a lower rate with my bank (but was 3 percent off) and they are "matching" the rate, but don't know that I wasn't given that rate in the first place. I am 19 once again, so I have VERY limited credit, and my credit has been run a lot. (In the process of getting the inquiries removed because I did not give permission). Overall I am pretty happy and have only had it for a few hours but I feel great!

 

Hi Brendon, I'm a newbie also. I know it's a cliché but driving the car puts a smile on my face especially knowing I'm getting close to 60mpg! Good luck, enjoy the experience!

 

I'm actually impressed that folks like you in your teens see the value of the Prius. For me it was a case of "too soon old, too late smart!" So good on you, mate.

Age 68.8 - about 1.25 million miles driven. Have owned > 20 cars starting with 1960 Sunbeam Alpine, 3 Alfas, MG Midget, MGA, Miata, 3 airplanes - 3000 hours. Six engineering degrees. Do you think only young people know what's going on? Have 2011 Gen 3 and bought 2013 Prius C daily driver in July. Actually prefer the C. The USA and the environment are much better off when we burn less gasoline - hence the Prii for me. I like driving a modern car with sophisticated engineering. In my opinion, Prii are the most advanced cars on the road - including EVs.

 

Are you still flying (in the air!) Aeroengr?

First Prius age 33, third at current 38. My kid wants a blue one next year for her 16 birthday. I love her logic to, she hates taxes (Yes she is self employed) Smart kid.

 

Im 22 and just got a 2010 prius 4 but have been driving a prius since I was 16, my sister has my first prius now. Everyone gives me shit about it but then they get in and have nothing but good things to say. My 1974 chevy pickup get more attention but it also get 10MPG

My wife used to teach high schoolers in a relatively rural district and even the skidder boys didn't look down on the Prius. Even if it's not really their cup of tea, younger people are more likely to value the positives. When you don't have much money and are getting 20mpg from your Grand Am, you're more likely to see the value of 50mpg.

I tend to always look for the best possible deal with everything. If I want to buy new clothes I go online and look at prices and then I go in store and see if I can find a better price. Looking at where the prices of gas are going the prius is the best option for me as a college student who maybe could afford more but doesn't want to spend more. Sure a new GMC sierra, subraru wrx, mercedes benz or any number of cars would be cooler but cost more to maintain and cost more to fuel up. Admittedly, my first prius was not by choice but it grew on me, super easy to maintain, goes forever without filling up, is reliable, and fairly inexpensive. When looking for a new car the best option was another prius. I was looking at the Volt, and Tesla but they cost too much and road trips wouldn't be as easy. Bottom line, the prius is perfect for daily driving and is surprisingly good with road trips. I would personally love to see hydrogen powered cars/trucks become mainstream, if I had to bet on which renewable fuel will be used to power the world i would bet on hydrogen. You could say I'm a bit more connected than most other people my age
