Engineering supervisor for a major manufacturer of Transit Buses. Ubergeek, reverse engineering specialist, and owner of two Prii.
We seem to be continuing the trend of technical people and military. I think the common denominator there is the preference (and possibly fetishization) of rational utility. We haven't really seen too many sales and executive folk because I think projecting an image of power and financial success (which is indeed sometimes a self-fulfilling prophecy) is an important part of those career fields. There are better choices to that end (i.e. Tesla).
SAAS Sales Dir and managed to be a part of a few companies going public and a Fortune 50 company. Looking to retire in the next 7-10 years and get out of the rat race if I last that long.
Systems Engineer for a small company specializing in Oil and Gas/Pipeline surveying. 3.8 miles RT, hence the PiP.
Agronomist/Horticulturalist (32 years) working on wildlife habitat restoration and preservation (primarily wetland ecosystems) until retirement 2 years ago. Continue to work part-time at a local golf course. My past academic background now qualifies me to operate mowing equipment.
That was part of my survey. Will it be more sitting at a desk tech geek or an alpha male or female. I was a firefighter and currently an EMT ( alpha) jobs but I am cheap. Knowing that gas will never really go down and stay down I opted for best car for my money.
Government Engineer Manager. I have a 100 mile round trip commute. I'm sort of technology obsessed so I bought a used 2010 Prius. I also love to play the fuel mileage game with all my cars. Nexus 7 ? 4
I'm an interventional cardiologist. I commute 28 miles each way. I used to own an Audi, but when the HOV lanes in AZ were extended and allowed for hybrid vehicles to legally use them with only the single driver, I had to make the switch. I was lucky to snatch up the special vehicle plate before the program expired. Anyway, I love to be able to fix broken hearts AND wiz by in the HOV lane during rush hour traffic AND save on gas money. Next car will be the Tesla model X. I'll drive an SUV on the HOV lane and not feel guilty about it, not even the slightest bit.
Same field here, somewhat. I am an Administrative Nurse. I am the Admissions, Education, and Marketing Nurse for a Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Center.
I'm a layer 1/2 guy with Big Bell. Official title is Electronics Technician....or 4-wall CO tech. I manufacture dial tone, bars, or just light. Sometimes I clean up and sweep out the joint. "My" Prius is a company car. My daily commute is about 10 miles....soon to be cut down to less than three, hence the "hypocommuter" sobriquet.
Retired U.S. Air Force twenty years ago. I've been self employed since, own a Pawn Shop. Interesting profession and at age 63, I have no desire to retire. I plan to seamlessly transition into eternal rest. Been married 41 years, no kids. Wifey and I are "pulse and gliding" in life.
