    Hello fairweather friend ;-)

    Gasoline cars catch fire every 50 million miles, and Teslas every 200 million miles. The Teslas are still safer to drive. :-D BTW I think the Tesla is a pretty good deal since they give you free fuel (at the superchargers). I estimate that's worth $20,000 over 200,000 miles of driving.

    ^ Correct on the issue of car fires. Teslas catch fire much less frequently per mile driven than gas cars. However, the free fuel is only when you're on the highway, and still involves a half-hour stop. The vast majority of drivers are going to get nearly all their charging at home. So the value of the fuel savings is only road trips on major highways.
