I have a '12 PHV (base) and went into the dealer today to get the supposed 2.2.0 update for Entune. Well, they updated it, but when I checked the version it was 3.1.0! I don't notice much of a difference, but my text messages finally work! I guess some other bugs are fixed as well. I still have to tether my iPhone 5 to the car in order for Entune to work (grr, Apple!). However, I don't have to tether in order to get a notification that I received a text ("Text message received"); the system even reads the text to me. You have to turn the notifications on your phone. The night time mode for the navigation is also automatic now (whereas before I had to manually do it, even when I select automatic!). The navigation also seems faster to load and navigate. Anybody else have the update 3.1.0? You have to go to the dealership to get it done. Mine was completely free. What are the exact updates? The service personnel was unable to tell me.
i called toyota entune and guess what they told me? 3.1.0 doesnt exist and there is no update for entune 2.2.0 is the latest but clearly you have
they lied! maybe their dealership doesn't have the update yet. i got mine at longo toyota in el monte, ca
WOW i called longo toyota and they said they can do it for the standard but when i took it to the fremont dealership the said its only for the hdd type toyota entune said the same i am gonna call them give them a really hard time they even made me take my car into the dealer ship for 2 hours then put it in a car wash and scratched it told em not to wash the car!
This is very interesting because I was looking for an update to my 2013 PHV Trim 4's Entune which is at 2.1.0 and I emailed Toyota and they told me 2.3 was out and to go to my dealer to get the update. My 2.10 has been locking up a lot when playing audio from USB or BT after hanging up from a call, or rebooting randomly if switching apps too often. Toyota told me to go to my local dealership to have the update installed. So I go and they tell me they never heard of it. So a day later, they call me back and tell me that the update is a special USB flash drive (special???) and it'll cost me $169 to purchase it and then to have the tech install it. Umm... I've been in IT for 21 years and I think I can handle updating firmware. But 169$$? That's crazy!!! I don't care about map updates, I just want the Entune system to stop locking up on me. Pulling over to power the car off and back on to reset the Entune system is a pain. How much did the update cost you?
My update was free. I asked for it while doing the free oil change. If you go there just for the Entune update, they may not want to do it for free.
I recommend going to a different dealer. I am going to go to a different dealer today. Or just speak to a different service advisor Turn off signatures in Tapatalk Tapatalk
If anyone knows where to get the 3.1.0 firmware files... I'd be so grateful if you can share them as I am not an idiot can easily install them on my car.. don't want to waste the money going to the dealer.
I cant imagine Toyota charging $169 for the FIRMWARE update. I'm guessing that the dealer Paul went to confused the map update with Entune update. A quick Google search shows the 2013 map update (although on DVD) is sold for $169. This is probably what the clueless dealer was talking about.
We used to get a usb thumb drive to upgrade. They then changed to update over the air (internet connection over phone data plan). Now, you need to go to dealer to get update. Dealer has usb thumb drive.
so no more OTA update and only update via USB thumb drive now? In that case, you could do it yourself if you can get a hold of the firmware?
And whatever loader Toyota puts on the USB drive. But see this thread for the Team Prius response when I suggested something like that.
Hahah.. your post may be the reason why the last update was dealer-only and they stopped sending out USBs
That's total BS! To be fair, I did get the update while having my 20k service. I don't understand why I was able to get the Entune update 3.1.0; it clearly exists. Where do you live? Go to Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA if you're nearby!
