I also miss my Jeep Wrangler with the top down on days like today.......................but I dont miss all the gas it sucked, filled Prius after driving all week $17 I feel like I beat the big oil companies. LOL
Exactly. I was getting 15mpg in my 07 JK. 70 miles into this tank on just local driving I'm averaging 59.9mpg to work and back. That's nearly quadruple the gas mileage I got in the Jeep. So overall I am pretty happy with it. It is interesting how gas saving tricks from driving the Wrangler compound into fantastic mpg in the Prius.
Same here. Although I wonder, does having it open block the charging on the solar panel, or does it only charge at rest?
2015 Prius hopefuly will have a roof that charges the battery, EZ GO golf carts now offers a solarpanel kit for it's roofs on their golf carts which puts 20% back into it's battery. to extend it's distance. Smart
My understanding is the solar panel only runs the "solar powered ventilation" system while at rest. see this thread: How effective is that solar panel? | PriusChat
Sabby, I'm thinking of taking the Skyline Drive from Arlington, VA area to South Carolina any notable points or stops I should consider? Thanks, Ken
There are many wonderful places along the way to stop and look at the vistas. On our trip the high point was a few bears we saw along the side of the road. When you enter the park they give you a detailed map which highlights all the spots to park and look around. Enjoy the drive!
Exactly, don't have to shift to B, it will do it automatically when the battery gets fully charged. Was going down Mont Eagle the first time it automatically went to B, quite a surprise till I figured it out. The Prius does a really good job of taking care of its self.
The B setting is for long downhill runs, otherwise don't use it. Agreed. There is no reason to use B unless you absolutely feel like you might over heat the brakes which should be really really rare.
I used to live in Savannah, off of White Bluff. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. And it is the most beautiful city I have seen in the US.
My family and I are heading from NW Illinois to Orlando for another Disney trip. It will be our first trip in the Prius. I can't wait to go! Any hints for the trip down? There is only 1 section on I24 in the Smoky Mountains that it is a steep grade for about 4 miles. Besides that, I don't see any problems with it going into B mode.
