You should be able to program the key I sell online on your own. You can also send me your dead key and I can copy the encryption.

Will your key, once it's coded, do keyless remote entry for me when I touch my door handle? Or is it strictly to start the car when inserted into slot? I'm happy to send my key fob if that's the best option.

So why not just spill the beans and let everyone know what kind of key it is so we can all save money? Personally, while what you sell seems to work fine, I can probably get an actual used key fob for about the same price and program it to work just fine using online instructions floating around cyberspace for the 2004-2008 Prius. It's just not worth the over-inflated price to me for what really should be a $10 key. You would sell a WHOLE lot more of them if the price were less. $165 buys a brand new fully functional Smart Key on Amazon that has 100% success rate on user programming as long as you can follow the instructions.

Ovni, I also need to send you one of my Prius keyfobs to copy because my vehicle has no slots left for a new key. Where should I mail the keyfob? I tried to send you a private message through your profile page, but I can't see an option to do that. Maybe my priuschat account is too new to allow me to send private messages. Can you try to send me a private message?

Great experience buying a key from ovni. Programmed in less than 2 minutes, cut at the locksmith for $3 and now safely stashed in a hide-a-key box under the car for when (not if) I leave my fob somewhere really 'special' like the bottom of a river or in 2' of snow under a chairlift.

Ovni and I have been struggling to get one of his keys to work with my 2008 Prius, without success. I'll post my experience here to see if anyone has any bright ideas.

First key he sent I did chicken dance and dash light just never stopped flashing. (Even rhythm flashing). I did video of my procedure and posted it on youtube at
. Ovni saw no error in my procedure. I sent back the key and he tested it and it worked fine on another Prius. Meanwhile, he sent me two more. These also would not program to my car, but this time the light flashed with a 2 flash/3 flash/2 flash rhythm, which Ovni said indicates probably all key slots full. This was plausible, because we are second owner and have lost key before. So I took car to dealer and had them clear the ECU of all lost keys ($30 and they gave me a free salad and cut the two keys to work the doors). No change in result after trip to dealer. Keys will not program and I get the uneven rhythm to the dash flashes. Meanwhile, I had my friend Rob buy an Ovni key and it worked first time in his 2007 Prius. Ideas?

I'm in Massachusetts and have only one smart key, so I can't bring it over to him to clone and I can't part with it by mail to have it cloned.

Hello James. I can't seem to figure out your problem. The key has no moving parts and does not use any batteries. Three keys sent and none have programmed. I bet if you grab any of those keys and take them to any prius it will work right away. Your procedure for entering programming is PERFECT!!
Like I suggested before. Remove the negative terminal for 15 minutes. Re-plug and run the car for a few minutes. Try programming again.
I don't think the dealer did anything to the car. They are notorious for feeding people BS.

I checked the battery voltage using the diagnostic display on the dash. It says 12.0 volts, which I know is not great. I opened the hood and put a jump starter pack on the jump starting terminals. That did not change the display reading -- still at 12.0, and I did the chicken dance with your key again with no improvement in results.

I called the dealer and they said they would check their work and reverify the 4 empty key slots if I bring the car back to them.

I am reluctant to disconnect the battery. There is a whole section in the owner's manual about how the car may not start when you reconnect and what to do, and about re-initializing various systems (power windows and I forget what else). It's 20 degrees out and I don't have a garage. So, not fun working on the car. Potentially messing up the Prius and having to have it towed and doing without the car for a day or more is a risk I don't welcome.

I am not confident of the strength of my jump starter unit so next experiment will be jumper cables from another car, I think.

By the way, my friend Rob bought one of your keys for his 2007 and had no problem programming it. I'll try his key in mine and my key in his (if he'll let me -- it means he uses another key slot, or gains another backup, depending on how you look at it, since we live nearby each other).

Another by the way: I called triple A and asked about their key reimbursement benefit and they said they will reimburse up to $50 per year for key problems. Just send in the invoice. I am not totally confident this is going to work without it being an invoice from someone they referred me to. They referred me to a locksmith who was going to charge $105 for clearing the ECU slots with me bringing the car to him (something the dealer prices at $30 as it turned out). But at least now with that referral (that I didn't use) AAA has it on record that I have a key problem so that may bolster my case for the reimbursement. If you have "AAA plus" membership ($82/year instead of $52) they will reimburse up $100 for key issues. It does not have to be a lockout or loss of your only key.

I intended to post this video on getting the car to display battery voltage. I just went back out there and did it again and now my voltage is displaying at 10 volts, so this may be my key problem. Getting the jumper cables hooked up is proving impossible.

Hey Ovni, I think you may be the only one in prius chat world who knows the answer, can I program a mozb31eg dumb key to my non sks 2005 prius if I am currently using a mozb21tg dumb key? Are they interchangeable, seems like it is possible but would love to know for sure before I attempt the chicken dance

mozb31eg is NOT a dumb key. They are interchangeable to start the car in the slot. RFID chips are identical. The frequency modulation is different in each FCC. The wireless portion is not interchangeable. Look at your driver and front passenger door handles. Smart system(mozb31eg) has a button on it. Also the smart system has a "Key" button around the area where your knees would touch.

Your right, my bad. The mozb31eg is not dumb. It looks like it would be able to start my car ( since the RFID chip is the same) but not unlock/lock my doors when I press the button from a distance (frequency/wireless part) right? If so then I would need the mozb21tg so I can program it to unlock lock doors when I press the fob. Sorry if I sound stupid, just want to clarify, thx you're the best! My car is def non sks- (too bad lol)

Still can't get the Ovni key to program. I bought an Optima Yellow Top battery and replaced my battery and did not maintain voltage during the battery swap, intentionally, to force the computer to reboot. Same result when I try to program the key. Next step, back to the dealer.

Tried the key in an '07 Prius. Works. Mines '08 but that should make no diff.

Same immo chip for all prius 04-09. Car might need a full reset. Which you don't want to try. I have worked on over 100 different prii and never had any issues when disconnecting the battery. I understand if you don't feel comfortable doing it. Below is the steps required to delete keys from immo computer.

    -Connect techstream computer to car
-Put car into on mode(engine not running)
    -on computer, open immo ecu
    -select transponder code erasure(NOT RESET!)
-computer will tell you to place smart key in slot
-few seconds later all keys will be deleted EXCEPT key inserted in slot.

At this point the car will have one key programmed and 4 open slots.

Im working on a water proof prototype. It will be a small cylinder shape about 1/4 inch wide by 2 inches long. Will attach to a swimsuit or any outdoor attire. Still doing test...
