By the time you put any options on a Prius C it is not much cheaper then a Prius. I got a Prius C because I just liked it better.
Fully loaded it's still less expensive than the intro Prius. Maybe by like $500 but you get more MPG and More gadgets!
Our fully loaded Canadian C is a lot cheaper than a fully loaded Prius here in Canada. I test drove both and, like you, I preferred the C. I found the front interior of the Prius to be rather small. I think it was the centre console that bugged me. I also didn't like the rear sight lines.
I chose the c on the interior color combo. I really love a white and black interior. Even though it's grey and black it's close enough.
I didn't see much difference in price between the regular Prius and the C. I chose the C because I like small cars; in fact, I think the C is too big. I still love it though, no disappointments.
Exactly, a loaded C is close to the price of a regular Prius liftback. Compare similarly loaded cars and there is still a modest gap, admittedly a bit smaller than the base model gap. A liftback just isn't available quite as stripped down as the C is. This was one of the major factors in me going with a C as well. With two people in the car you notice how much smaller the C is, but if you drive alone most of the time, as I do, that flying buttress center console makes the regular Prius feel smaller. Rumor is that the next gen liftback will get rid of that flying buttress console. Rear sight is also admittedly worse in the liftback, assuming you removed the headrests and stowed the center belt in the C. With those things done my C has one of the clearest rear views I've ever had in a car. The liftback at least has a factory back up camera option to help out there.
Some people like the Priussy because it doesn't look like the adult-sized Prius. Others like the price point sans options. Some people (like me) actually LIKE smaller cars, and it makes more sense since 99 percent of time it's just me and a flight bag. Who needs the back seat? It's even easier to park and you have more room left over in the garage. I still prefer the G3, but that's what I grew up with. Many drivers. Many cars.
this is true of most (all?) cars. loaded corolla vs stripped camry, loaded camry vs stripped avalon, loaded avalon vs stripped lexus. it depends on what car you want vs option packages.
The C reminds me of my '89 Civic. Inexpensive to start but so much fun that you just can't help adding to it. (well not as much fun but that's not the point)
