Brings back memories- the girls used to always sit right next to you- or even lay down and -- oh well, those were the fun times.

My bets are still on reveal of the 2015 Prius at the NAIAS 2014. My reasoning is:
    • 3rd gen Prius made its debut as a 2010 model at NAIAS 2009. If 4gen Prius is a 2015 model, it should be likely to be revealed NAIAS 2014. (It it is a 2016 model we will have to wait another year of course. If this is the case i predict that Toyota will face severe competition during 2014 and declining sales)
    • My source for the above speculation on Gen4 being a 2015 model is Toyota US Vice president for strategic planning that has been quoted saying that next Prius could come as early as a 2015 model.
    • Toyota has announced that it will release another 15 new hybrids by 2015. I don't think the next gen Prius will be among the last among those 15, more likely among the first followed by a many more featuring the next gen THS.

The NS4 is wayyyyyy to sedan-ish while the lower (red) image is more of a true 5 door hatch. Build the red one!

2014's are arriving as we speak. Toyota.com allows you to build one for preview already... No known difference from the 2013's and no more Persona Series...

That is simply not true as it is not known yet, it is all speculation. It may be late 14' as a 15 model or could be in 15' as a 16' model, we just don't know. Sorry, but this must be made clear to people, not just stating speculation as facts right now.

    Time will tell.

I went to the EV show in Point Loma CA last month and the Toyota rep confirmed but then again he was a marketing guy low level and he said unofficially yes but that is unofficial and I didn't say that

Yes, but my point still mains true that only posting "2015 model is the new design" at this point in time is misleading.

It may be a chat room, but posting something that is speculation and making sound factual misleads people.

Someone following what others and you had said replied with "so 15' will be it", I feel in part to your post and the way it was worded which was why I replied and we are where we are now.

    do not know.

Sometimes people know certain things ....

July of 2008 a salesman at Toyota Sunnyvale said '3rd gen Prius' would positively have a 1.8L gas engine, up from the 1.5L of the 2nd gen car. of course, he was right.

Toyota just released the all new 2014 Corolla a month ago or so. They seem to release new models at various times. Recall the 2009 Matrix was out in Feb. 2008.

Big thing is that they do a major improvement. Far as I'm concerned, they can just give a couple MPGs but really work hard to refine and improve it, draw in more customers that didn't consider the current Prius.

Incredible. We didn't know for certain (and I don't think we even heard rumors) until we heard it ourselves in Detroit in January 09.

FWIW, the salesman (in WA) who sold me my 02 Nissan Maxima (I later also bought a 350Z from him) claimed that the next gen Maxima would get a V8 engine. It never did. Mine was a 5th gen and now we're at least at the 7th gen.

If enough people are speculating, someone is always bound to be right, correct?

It's like how there is always someone predicting when the next recession will hit. There will always be someone who got it right.

Today during a mixed use drive of about 80 miles including several stops and cold starts I got 58.5 mpg indicated and 56.5 on the Scanguage. (Grill block in place now with the cold upstate NY temps)

I wonder if the the Gen 4 will allow for a 10% or better improvement on the EPA or will the programming and design naturally take better advantage of the techniques described on this site along with the use of the Scanguage.

I really hope the next Gen has an ECO cruise control mode that allows a variable low speed and high speed setting from the baseline speed so that the car can automatically do a better job on the highway cruise while going up and down hills!

    Good question!

And I hope you are right about the ECO cruise control as well. I think they could do a way better job with that. If that is a really big improvement then I might be looking in another couple years because I do so many road trips.
