The 328 is the 2.0 litre diesel? If so, that's the best one. These cars are ten a penny over here and probably the nearest competitor to the Prius for interior room, economy, performance (improved over Prius) etc. The only down side is that it's more expensive. Looks better too
According to the specs in the article, yes, it's the 2.0 litre version. And you are right, far better looking.
This gives another review offering. I believe the US and Euro versions are pretty much the same, other than you call your 2.0 a 328 and we call it a 320d. Other than the cost of the car and maintenance, it would be almost perfect for the size. The Euro economy for the automatic version is 61 mpg UK, compared to the gen3 Prius of 72 mpg UK. OK, it's the Euro test which reflects the best you're likely to achieve but it gives the comparison between the two and that it's not too far apart. The 2.0 on the newer BMs achieve very good mpgs and have very low Co2 as well. As grumpy said, they are everywhere over here. A few of my colleagues are getting mid 40s mpg with mostly city driving, which is pretty good. The M Sports do love tyres though and be 18s and runflats they are very expensive They are terrible in the snow so it's a pity that we don't see many, if any of the xdrives, aside from in the x1/3/5/6 models
Nice to see the F30 Touring model with another motor option. The wagon always get short changed when it comes to motor selection. They have the best configs overseas. If only this had the 335i or 335d motors it would really set them apart. The E90 335d was/is quite impressive. 400ft lbs of torque and still hovering around 40mpg! With the price tag already a premium, why not? What's also odd is since the wagon is the heaviest of the chassis options, you would think the motor options would follow.
Are they usually equipped with performance or all season tires there? It is available in the wagon, but only with Xdrive.
I was referring to a 3.0 twin turbo or 3.0 turbo diesel. In the E90 or F30 config, those motors are not available in the US with the wagon. The E90 335i Touring is gorgeous. BMW 3-Series | Long Term Tests | Car Reviews | evo

Performance tyres, even though it's cold and wet for 6 months of the year! Nobody uses all seasons here and only a few loons like me put on winters. It's actually below 10c or 50f for nearly half the year too. Pretty much same as the UK only they get hotter summers, the lucky feckers
Both the 335i and d were available here but were stupid expensive so most people if they wanted these types imported from the UK where there's a bigger choice. The xdrive us now available here in the latest f10 model, but again BMW prices are huge here
Right.. that's my point.. we get the "eco" motors consistently in the touring.. since the E46 Touring and has not changed since. BMW's changed model numbering scheme starting with the F30's. The last 2 numbers no longer ties in with the displacement. Marketing.. who wants a 320d? vs a 328d.. lol..
BMW badging stopped making sense years ago alright, but it's gone especially nuts these days 520i, could be a 2.0 or 2.2 535 is a 3.0 328i is a 2.0T 123d is a 2.0d 118d is a ... It just goes on and on
