I'm planning to upgrade my stock H11 low beam bulbs with these, wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them or any other similar types of kits. 24 Watt CREE LED Headlight Kit (CANBUS Compatible) SECOND GENERATION Thank you for your opinions and suggestions. 2010 Prius 4 with 65K miles. Use Kendall 0w-20 Full Synthetic. Other LED bulbs on my Prius is Lumen, purchased at CarId.com
They seem nice, please tell us when you do install them with pics of night and ground shadow iPhone ? - now Free
Looks like they would probably work better in a reflector than they would in a projector. I think its pretty safe to say if it needs those fans, its going to fail at some point especially if there is no fan warning system. Would be nice to see some shots of the beam.
Will be interesting to see how they work out. Can't imagine the LEDs would produce much heat, if any. What's the price for the pair? I have the factory LEDs headlights on my PIPA. Really like the light output and I don't notice any draw on my EV mileage.
Even LEDs put out heat. Though they put out much less heat then incandescents of similar luminosity, they are also much less tolerant of high junction temperatures and poor thermal design. A 24 watt lamp of any technology should have a heat output approximately equal to 24 watts minus the actual photon power of its light output. For an incandescent, that might be 21-23 watts of heat. For an LED with today's technology, that is likely be in the range of 12-18 watts.

Oh, I see. When they designed it to last 80,000 hours, they didn't mean operating hours, but only calendar hours. If the ballasts need forced air cooling, then I'd also want to know more detail about how well the thermal design requirements of the LED die were handled. Some consumer products are done well, some are quite bad.
PriusChat member Dawit installed similar high power LEDs in his stock lowbeam projectors. He has since switched to an HID kit, Morimoto if memory serves me correctly, because he said the HIDs were brighter and had a better beam pattern over the LEDs. Hopefully, he chimes in on this thread and his experience with the LEDs. FYI, he's still using the LEDs in his foglights. SCH-I535
Prius Star Ship: Did u take the plunge & get these? I'm sure a lot of us would like to see how the output will be in the projectors.
Anyone want to try these? http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=190961712284 They should fit into the OEM foglight shrouds. SCH-I535
This one looks even better. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=151154811050 Heat sinks built into the rear of the housing and real lenses to focus the LED output. SCH-I535
