I just had my oil changed by the dealer at 5,000 miles. I know that most everyone, dealer included, says no need to change but wanted to get any of the break in junk out of the engine. Cost was going to be 64.95 but as a Costco member with a $50 gift card it was $14.95. Speaking of which when you purchase a car using Costco's auto buying service you get a huge discount and then for doing a 3-4 minute survey a $50 gift card for parts or service from the dealer where you purchased the car. Sorry no pictures of the oil prior to change.
Doesn't the ToyotaCare maintenance package take care of the oil changes for the first 2 years? That was my understanding. Maybe I should read the fine print.
Toyota Care covers oil changes on the Toyota recommended schedule which is at 10K. So with Toyota Care you will get 2 oil changes, 10k and 20k. That is unless you can say that the car is used under "special operating conditions" look on page 38 of the Warranty and Maintenance Manual then you can get a oil change at 5K. It will be a pain to say special operating conditions apply, easier to pay the $14.95 for a oil change at 5K.
When you also burn a $50 gift card it is, which means you still spent $64.95, it just doesn't feel as bad to the wallet.
