Michelin Energy Saver AS increased noise after 15K mi.?

I do not have the Energy Savers but I do have the Primacy MXV4's. Mine did the same thing after similar mileage. I had a very noticeable decrease in noise when first installed then noticed a slow increase in noise as the mileage increased.

I think this will be true for any tire as the tread depth decreases.

 

I also noticed an increase in road noise as my Goodyear Fuel Max tires wore down on my volt. After 57,000 miles I replaced them with Primacy MXV4 tires. Perhaps I should gone with Ecopia EP422 tires since I've taken a roughly 8% hit on mileage even after 3,500 miles versus what I got on my old worn down tires.

How many miles has it been since you put the Primacy MXV4 on your Prius, what tires did you have before, and what kind of mpg difference have you noticed?

 

I have about 37k miles on the MXV4's now. I had the Yokohama Avid S33D as the OEM. I originally saw about a 4-5 mpg decrease with the MXV4's but now it is has gradually increased to just about where the mpg was before replacing.

 

I have 20K on the ESAS and noticed it as well, but no where near the noise of my stock Yoko's when I rotated them. As a matter of fact the ESAS seem a little quieter now than when I first rotated them.

 

you don't have super sonic hearing. its in your head. go see a shrink

 

had the same experience with A/S.. rotated tires, ran 1,000mi still noisy.

Turn out rear hub was the culprit.

 

That's ok, I'm trying to reduce the overall demand for them so they will be available when I wear these out.

 

We have about 30,000 miles on our 195x65x15 Michelin Energy Saver AS with all tires
inflated to 44 PSI. I have not noticed any increase noise...
