    Yes and no.

As mentioned earlier, the original warranty for the gen3 Prius in the UK was only 5 years/60,000 miles. It was only increased to 8 years 100,000 miles in June (roughly) 2010 because of all negative publicity with the recalls. It was NOT back dated to the few thousand gen3's sold in the previous 12 months. These original gen3's are getting close to being fully out of hybrid warranty!

It is speculated that perhaps Toyota knew something was 'up' with the gen3, hence the original low warranty, as the earlier gen2 had the 8 year/100,000 mile warranty. I wonder how many of these battery pack failures are on the early gen3's. I have an early UK gen3 and it has been a pig for reliability - new inverter outside of warranty (though replaced for free!), 2 steering motors at a cost of nearly £2,000 fitted (both under warranty) and at least 1 ecu.

Granted it hasn't cost me much for these replacement parts (other than the inconvenience of being broken down at the side of the road), but parts are not cheap and soon I and many others will be paying for replacements.

I am not sure I understand all of the arguments here but here is the label photo as requested by the OP.

I should have been more specific - I was referring to the earlier comments that the EU PiP battery warranty was 5 years. For the PiP it has always been 8 years in the UK, don't know what it is elsewhere in the EU.

    Thank you.
Your battery part number is same as mine.
It seems that the part number of the battery to the US is different and I wonder how it differs from ours.
