    maybe sooner than we think ... after all several smart people figured out how to use the PIP traction pack as a generator power source. I'm sure toyota would want to find excessive use in that fashion as an excuse to void an expensive traction pack warranty. The same would be true with the Volt.

    no doubt that could be a warranty voiding situation if they found out. it would be nice if they could give some type of battery capacity reduction vs mileage graph, but that would probably open another can of worms or reduce sales to people who think they are going to stay at 100% forever.:cool:

    My company at work has these charging stations for the Leaf. Can I use those on the plugin prius?

    If they are L2 charging stations with a J1772 connectors, then yes

    hi again been away for a bit I broke down and turned traitor bought a 2013 volt also don't hate me I love it.
    Gata question my wife reset trip a and b counter. how can I get overall millage from day 1. ty in advance. ps 6k on volt 5.5 gallons been getting around 48-54 miles per charge.

    Once you reset those tripometers I don't believe there is anyway to get it back. Sorry.

    Don't get to mad at her I did the same thing to my miles since new screen just yesterday and I have had it 1 1/2 years. You would think I no better by now! Nope! It happens really easy! and fast, in a blink of an eye! So go easy it's not the end of the world! Close maybe but not the end! :D

    Save me from having to go through 7 pages please :) Nothing came up on the search......

    1) How many amps does the charger pull when it's plugged into a regular household socket?

    2) Is there any relationship between the little "CHG" nub on the Hybrid System Indicator and when the friction brakes engage? For example when the little nub is less than 100% full it's only using regenerative braking but when you brake beyond that nub friction brakes engage? (taking a guess). On the Volt, when the little leaves disappear on the green ball, that's when the friction brakes are starting to engage. I was wondering if there was something similar on the PiP?

    1. More of a guess because it's been a while since I've checked but I think around 12 during most of the charge then about 6 or 7 when it's almost full.
    2. I've heard that the friction breaks start to engage when the charge indicator is about 75% full. Although I've heard a few people say it has to be 100% full before they engage.

    Toyota says you should always use a 15A socket. Total draw into any socket is supposed to be 80% of the socket capacity…giving us 12. As markabele mentioned, the draw drops toward the end of the charge.

    Feel free to ignore this, because the info is there, but I originally missed it and have spent 6 months thinking that the US cars had a special "LO" button you could press on the heating controls which UK cars didn't...

    Can I suggest you move the phrase "hold down the "lower temperature" button until you get to LO" from where it is in the description of how to not engage the ICE when defogging to just after the first time you mention LO, a couple of lines earlier? Won't make any difference to the vast majority of people, but, who knows, there might be someone even stupider than me along in a moment...

    This is my first winter. So what is the best practice to eliminate fogging over without the ICE coming on?

    • How can I defog the windshield without engaging ICE?
      Set the temperature to LO, set the vents to foot+windshield, and turn on the fan. Do NOT press the front defogger button. If you follow this procedure, engine will NOT come on. NOTE! you must do this before turning the car on or within the first 10 seconds of starting the PIP! That is, if after the 10 seconds, you turn on the fan and your temperature is initially 70 and then you hold down the "lower temperature" button until you get to LO, you blew it and the ICE will kick on anyway. To avoid this, before starting the car, press the POWER button twice without pressing on the brake pedal, turn on the fan, and lower the temperature to LO. Then, press OFF and start the car as usual. Or, as mentioned above, adjust your climate settings within the first ten seconds after starting your car.
      Pages 362 and 366 in the manual mention that engine may come on when "regular" defogger is engaged. You can also crack open a rear window by about an inch and not turn anything on, which works for some people.
