I ordered it many many months ago, simply becuase I was in no rush and wanted a 14' model, and today it finally arrives at the dealership. Took the white protective plastic off the top panels, clear plastic off the rims and the other plastic from inside the vehicle myself. I then washed with Dawn, clayed, rewashed, alcohol prepped and applied opticoat 2.0. Overall I'm loving the car as well as the results of my hard work today, Lol!
I've got to fire em' up at night now to make sure, but it was kind of a letdown driving home... I was thinking it would have LED DRLs and instead it looked in the reflection off the car in front of me like the high beams just running at a low wattage. Edit: Yup, just went out and it would appear the DRLs are simply the High Beams running at a reduced wattage instead of LED DRLs. Oh well, they are what they are and they do what their intended purpose is. As well as getting me a discount on the insurance.
It does. The high beams are not LED in the Five just like the two and three. All Prius with LED headlights have always had halogen high beams.
Nice ! Nice ! I see did the OC2.0 with prepped, that was also my first mod on the prius. And don't forget apply OC2.0 to the rims from brake-dust bonding. A shining black car always nice & fresh!!! Congrats!!!
Very nice. I like the Prius v, but the Prius hatchback works fine for me. I was a failure as the owner of a black car. Good to see those that embrace them.
Thanks! Oh yes, I made sure to do the rims and applied the Optimum Technology's version of Rain-X to all windows as well. Lol, black is a love hate relationship color on vehicles. I'm a detailing nut though so I enjoy caring for it. Though with OC2.0 applied, there really isn't much to do other than careful hand washings.
Bummer about the DRL being the high beams like the Canadian Prius v but at least Toyota responded to the tidal wave of criticism which included my phone calls and letters. At least what is shown in the Prius v owners manual about DRL will now match what is actually installed on the car.
Bummer. Toyota seems to be doing these thing randomly. Camrys had them since the late 90s in the USofA, but Prii did not get them until 2012, and then not all models. What's with the LEDs on some and de-power high beams on others. Don't get me started on auto on/off lights. The silver lining is I personally believe the depowered high beams are more effective DRLs than LEDs. LEDs are more of an eye candy.
Black sure looks good.... Lower door stainless bright work and stainless door handle bright work would really set the black off.... See our white with these add ons....
Up here, the PHV gets LED DRLs but the regular Prius continues with high beam DRLs even though the US spec cars have LED DRLs. Go figure.
Congratulation on your new v! Love the black and it looks even better with the wash and wax detail!! Enjoy and be safe out there!!
