Cruise control that stays on all the time. I can't come up with any good reason why it should ever be off.

Huh? Safety reasons. What if it's already on and you accidentally bump it to set at an inopportune time?

How about child window locks that don't also lock the driver out of the controls. Who thought of that??

I wish the headlights would come on automatically, the way the ones in my ’99 Corolla did.

Barring that, I wish there was a warning beep to let me know I’ve forgotten to turn them off. As, again, the ’99 Corolla had.

I wish there was a way to silence the back-up beeps, too. I hate backing into a space at night — I feel as though I’m waking everyone up.

The beeps are inside the car, not outside.
The default programming is to beep continuously while you are in reverse (Toyota's way of punishing their customers) but fortunately they can be easily reprogrammed by the dealer to just a single beep when you put the car in reverse. I find the single beep to be no nuisance at all and actually see it as a mild benefit.

I sympathize. But, remember, the lights turn off automatically 30 seconds after the engine is turned off.

Something that would acoustically eliminate the whining coming from the right seat. My selective hearing doesn't seem to be as effective as it once was.

Bottom of front bumper higher, so it isn't scraped every time it goes over those small concrete blocks when it goes over them.

Probably another "safety" feature which I can sort of understand. With the lock on nobody can open or close the windows, so no chance of an incident. If the driver had sole control there is a potential for an incident to happen. For example... Imagine a driver closing a window on your hand and you not being able to open it yourself. You yell and hope the driver understands enough to open the window back up quickly and not accidentally close it even more...

What's CoG? Do you mean CoD, as in coefficient of drag? Or do you want a low gear for driving around at low speed in sand or snow? :D

Isn't that center of gravity? With the clearance of a vacuum cleaner, I don't know how much lower it could get

Ah, that makes sense. They did wish for better suspension and handling. ;)

be careful; I ripped the entire front bumper off trying to back out when the car was on one of those blocks. Always try to stop short of them.

The four previous cars I have owned that had cruise control, it stayed on all the time, unless you turned it off, even after turning the engine off. Never had a problem with it. If you need to slow down, you have to use the brakes anyway.
