I bought my Prius in 2012, it is spread to be a 2011 model. However, I can't find anything that says it a "c" version. I'm guessing it must be a generation III. It would just help to know the details when discussing a problem. SM-T310 ? 4
If your car was a "c" for compact it would say so on the back of the car. If it is a hatchback it is considered a Gen III Liftback in Toyota's new terminology. You can go to ToyotaOwners.online, create an account and enter your VIN and it should give you some info. If you bought it new your paperwork should give you the information.
You can go on Toyota's website, look at a picture of a III and a C, then, remember the difference, go outside and look at your car. Whichever it matches is what you have...
There's a little bit of confusion here. A Prius c (for city) is the smaller Prius introduced for 2012 and looks like this: The "regular" Prius is currently in its third generation (Gen III - model years 2010 thru current) and looks like this: I'm guessing you have a Generation III Prius and you're probably wondering what trim level you have (I, II, III, IV or V). Post a pic and see if we can figure it out.
Unbelievable that you had your car 14 months and you are just now wondering if you bought a C or a hatchback/ and/or what trim level! I am guessing it is a hatchback. As for trim level, do you have leather or navigation?
While your vehicle identification number (VIN) isn’t the secret key to an amazing array of data, it can be used to figure out the year, make, model, trim package, engine size, and transmission type of any vehicle. If you’d like to decode your VIN, here’s a basic guide. First, you need the number. Your Toyota’s VIN is 17 digits, and it’s printed in a few different locations: Either on a sticker or a metal tag located on your dashboard. You should be able to see it through the windshield on the driver’s side, way down at the bottom. On a sticker inside the driver’s door jamb. On a sticker under the hood (actually stuck to the underside of the hood). You can also find the VIN etched on your vehicle’s window glass (something a lot of vehicles have), under the spare tire, printed on the engine block, or even stamped in the metal above the vehicle’s rear wheel (driver’s side). Last (but not least), your insurance card and/or vehicle registration will have your VIN as well. How To Decode A Toyota VIN Number The first three digits in the VIN correspond to the make, model, and manufacturer. The fourth digit represents the safety features on the vehicle. Digits five thru eight represent the vehicle trim level or series, engine, and frequently (but not always) transmission. The ninth digit is a little like those magnetic strips in paper money: it’s a “check digit” designed to verify the authenticity of the VIN. It’s determined using a mathematical formula that involves the other numbers in the VIN. Digit 10 represents the year that your particular model of Toyota was introduced, while the eleventh number is a way to determine which factory assembled your vehicle. Finally, the last six digits numbers used by Toyota to identify the vehicle internally. While these digits are often assumed to indicate when a vehicle was produced (i.e. 000001 would be the first car produced, 000002 would be the second), this is not always the case. For the 10th digit, these are the model years corresponding to the year of production: A – 1980 OR 2010 B – 1981 OR 2011 C – 1982 OR 2012 D – 1983 OR 2013 E – 1984 OR 2014 F – 1985 OR 2015 G – 1986 H – 1987 I – Doesn’t exist. You’re looking at the number one. J – 1988 K – 1989 L – 1990 M – 1991 N – 1992 O – Doesn’t exist. Neither zero or the letter “O” are used as the 10th digit. P – 1993 Q – Doesn’t exist. R – 1994 S – 1995 T – 1996 U – Doesn’t exist as it’s too easy to confuse with the letter “V” V – 1997 W – 1998 X – 1999 Y – 2000 1 – 2001 2 – 2002 3 – 2003 4 – 2004 5 – 2005 6 – 2006 7 – 2007 8 – 2008 9 – 2009 A – See beginning of list
My car does not have the navigation screen and the interior seats are fabric. It is definitely not a C so it must be a generation III. I haven't found that on any of the purchasing documentation. I will try the WEB site and register the vehicle. If will be interesting to find out, but the only reason I have needed that information was to complete the registration on this site. SM-T310 ? 4
Hey Bud, The forum registration details are not important unless you just have to have all the details filled out. The important thing is you like what you bought no matter what version of Prius it is Welcome to the forum and the Prius addiction Mike
I have a 2013 prius 3 according to my toyota dashboard on their site. I do not have a JBL system but do have the navigation and sat radio.
My post was for a 2011 model, not a 2013, the 2 and 3 packages are different in these different years.
Almost 2 weeks have passed now.......has the OP found out what car he owns yet? Maybe walk outside and take a photo if it, upload here and we will advise Failing that, drive your car to your nearest Toyota dealership and ask someone there
