My 2012 Prius v's front end shakes violently during the first transition from battery to gas engine for 3 to 4 seconds. It happened twice under my watch and one the car is in motion, it dose not occur. It has 35k on it and I have every intention to drive it to the ground. I bought it new and never hit or collide with anything. Has any one of you experienced this?? cy
Yes, more details needs. "Transition" from battery to gas assumes the car is moving, but goes on to say "once car is in motion" all is okay.
My dealer told me that this does sometimes happen when the car is cold. I don't like it (mine has done it once) but they say this is what they do.
Try looking at T-SB-0081-13 TSB is a Toyota Service Bulletin Introduction: "Rear Brake Groan or Squeak Noise when Cold" . Its a Toyota Technical Service Bulletin. Which says "Some 2012 - 2013 model year Prius V vehicles may exhibit a rear brake groan or squeak noise when going forward or backing up when the brakes are cold. New Rear Brake Caliper Assemblies that include anti-squeal shims, brake pads and pad support clips have been developed to address this condition". Production Change Information: This bulletin applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Chang Effective VIN shown below Prius V JTDZN3EU # D3207505 My guess: Where a vehicle with a VIN # C3025XXX might be considered earlier e.g. C is older that D.
