It's time to replace the OEM EP20's. I got 85k on them. All highway commuting, 70-75 mph, 52-55 mpg. I'm looking at Michelin Defenders and Energy Savers AS. Leaning towards the Defenders. Do you think i can get the same mpg's with Defenders.
the Michelin AS are the best tires I've ever had on my Prius I would highly recommend that you change your mind to those. I had the ecopias they were the worst mileage for the car I put on the Goodyear Assurance those were okay but the best are the Michelin energy saver AS !!
Lots of reading on this. Bottom line is the Energy savers get about 3-4 better mpg, but the Defenders get more miles. In the end the cost is a wash and both tires are excellent. I had the OEM Yokos and Defender's stability and handling far surpassed those. Impressed enough to put them on my Son's car. 2010 Toyota Prius Base Tires | Michelin Tires
Had the OEM Yokos on my 2010. Lasted about 33k miles. Changed them out for Defenders before last winter. A major improvement in handling. I didn't really notice much of a mileage hit after a couple tanks and once they were broken in. Still averaging about 50 in the summer. I'd buy the Defenders again. Will probably put them on my 2003 CRV for this winter. They do pretty well in the snow for an all season tire.
