Hi All, Was hit directly in the rear last night whilst waiting in a queue of traffic. First thing the young driver of the Nissan fairlady that hit me said was "so so sorry I wasn't looking" Externally just a few scratches on the bumper but it looks like my spare wheel well has been pushed in about a centimetre. Luckily I have a picture of the well from a year ago from when I installed the rear parking sensors: As it is now: Hopefully there is no other damage but could be anything underneath. *Edit* Meant to ask if people think its safe to drive until I can get to a garage? Regards, Phil
She wasn't looking becasue she was texting. Dude who hit me was texting too. I got hit alot harder than you though. At the least the bumper shock absorber behind the bumper needs to be replaced and I would get the bent in trunk area looked at.
I do not know what model of car you have in Malaysia, but if it has the reversing camera with park assist there are sensors in the rear bumper that will need checking out. John (Britprius)
Thanks for the reply's. It's a UK T-Spirit model. Rear camera & parking sensors (I installed) are still working. Not sure about any other sensor for the park assist. Don't remember seeing anything when I installed the parking sensors. Any idea where these re located so I can check? Thanks, Phil
I also have the 2008 Tspirit. Not having had the bumper cover off so I cannot state for sure, but believe they are at the corners of the bumper front and rear. Looking at your picture I think they will be OK. There is an aluminium bumper support bar under the cover it is likely this will be bent. John (Britprius)
Do people text in Malaysia? Lol... Whats the insurance out there like? Is the lady gonna have to pay for the damages? If you were in the U.S. I would say pocket the money and leave the damage on the car lol. If its drivable, drive it. Meaning if it didn't deploy the airbags, and nothing feels wrong (ex. steering is pulling) keep putting the miles on! Hopefully you get a good chunk of change for her carelessness!
I thinks that's the danger of using British expressions 0n a US site ! Anyway car is at the garage and I am putting the paperwork together for the claim. As it's Malaysia I am expecting this process to be slow .
They are probably laughing at us considering this shut down thing. Totally ridiculous. This administration is the worst I have ever seen. Non republican or democrat here, just saying...
