I found a sweet deal on a desk on craigslist, I'm wondering if it will fit in my C with the rear seats folded down. What do you think? Measurements are: Width: 55" Depth: 30" Height: 30" Wood Desk and Drawers in Good Condition
You should measure the inside of your car to make sure. Just eyeballing it, but the 30" W at 30" H may not make it.
Unfortunately I don't have access to the car to measure it at the momment I tried deciphering the interior specs, I'm not sure which points the measurementas are taken from though. Dimensions Passenger Capacity: 5 Passenger Volume (cu. ft.): 87.4 Front Head Room (in): 38.6 Front Leg Room (in): 41.7 Front Shoulder Room (in): 52.3 Front Hip Room (in): 51.0 Second Head Room (in): 37.0 Second Leg Room (in): 50.8 Second Shoulder Room (in): 51.7 Second Hip Room (in): 50.8
I think you'll have trouble with the smallest dimension of the desk being 30". With the driver's seat about halfway back, there's 58" from the back of the seat to the hatch. Maximum width between the rear door handles is 48"; between the wheel arches is 39". Depending how much you squish the back seats when they're folded down, you have about 26" - 28" height throughout the cargo area.
I fit two dishwashers in my c (not at the same time). One was portable and I don't remember the size, and the other was 27" x 38" x 37". There was more room width-wise, but the limiting factor was depth and height, since the rear seats don't fold completely flat. If it's close enough and you don't have to drive far (and the roads aren't horrible) you could get away with tying it in and tying the hatch down somehow.
I think it would fit in our Honda Fit Sport. When we go shopping and expect to pick up something of some size, we take the Fit.
its time to wrap well with soft pads and strap to the top of the C. My box did well there. good luck.
This accords with my (metric) measurements, although I note the available length maxing out at 140cm (55.1"). From experience, the 30" x 30" profile is the killer... and the longer the item is, the more you will have a height problem. What we are measuring as the height between the folded seat backs and the ceiling will not cover long items that will get caught by the lip of the loading area towards the rear and the increasing incline of the seatback to the front, making the usable height significantly less for longer items. Even if the smallest dimension was 26", I suspect it may not have gone in. The dishwasher with 38" at the longest dimension is a different story, but that sounds like it was probably a tight fit to get it in. Of course if you can disassemble anything, your chances are always improved.
Being short, I don't have the driver's seat very far back, and I was able to squeeze in a 60" display booth case, although it was only about 10" high by 27" wide. I had to fold both front seat backs forward, put in the case, close the hatch, then set the seat backs upright again. This caused the case to be hard against the hatch and to push into the seat backs a little bit, although I was able to set them both in their normal position.
