Prius c One vs Prius c Two

My Prius C One has rear-window wiper and the rear head rests are most certainly removable.

 

I was going to get the one but ended up with the two and am not sorry. I ended up getting it for not much more than the one so that part was even better. I think you will be very happy with the car no matter which one you choose!

 

i have a c one in canada and i have cruise a rear wiper and keyless entry there is nothing i need more in a car .my rear head rests do come out as well and the split 60 40 rear seat

 

Went with the C1 myself. I look at it like this, they wanted an extra $1,100-$1,200 to upgrade from the C1 to the C2. The difference? 2x extra speakers in the back seat, cruise control, and split-folding rear seats.

I have no real use for the split-folding rear seats. Cruise control kits sell for around $150.00 on ebay and are pretty easy to install. And a pair of rear 6x9 speakers can be had for about $50.00. So I see it as $200.00 worth of upgrades for $1,200 from the dealer.

If you like to DIY like me, then save yourself an extra $1,000 and get the C1.

 

C2 has the nicer front seats as well doesn't it?

Went for a three myself, wanted the smart key, nav, split rear, nicer front seats, alloy rims, more speakers...all two and three features or options, a C1 would have felt too stripped down for me.

 

My C 1 is perfect, and does come with removable rear headrests, but i don't have any issue seeing out the rear window with them in place. The front seats are high back seats with the headrest built into it. Also, the C 1 in the USA does come with a rear window wiper. I am 6 foot and the front seats fit me fine. The trunk cover i thought at first would be nice and I have always had one in the past, but i don't really miss it and without it you have more trunk space. Cruise control sounds great, but in my view does not really get used much in California traffic. I don't find myself wishing for anymore car than it is. Save the money for something nice for yourself!

 

the upcharge for a C2 from a C1 is not really worth while seeing that most the improvements can be had for much cheaper. i went with a c1 and im happy with it. only thing i added was an arm rest and plan to add some speakers.

 

I own a 2012 Prius 2 moonglow. I studied the options before I decided on the TWO. I think the TWO gives the most value for the money spent. After one year in my car I have no regrets! I think your girl will love the cruise control once she uses it. It's is really simple to use. The options on the TWO are worth the extra money. Buy the TWO...

 

I guess im a spoiled commuter cause I had to have the 4 will all the options except the moonroof and 16" rims and I love it!

 

The most important difference is the addition of cruise control in C2 vs C1. A 50+ mi round trip should need cruise.
Number of speakers 6 vs 4 not muchengine immobilizer important if he's in theft region. or maybe anyway.

For all of us here the cruise is demanded. You choose.

BTW there are soime pretty good rebates out there now especialkly on leftover 2012's.

 

The main reason we picked the C2 over the C1 was the adjustable height feature of the drivers seat(10 inches difference between our heights). My wife also preferred the front seats/cloth materials and the split fold down rear seats which was easier for her to manage.

The cruise control was not a factor. Haven't used that feature on any of my cars over the last 20+ years. Prefer to "drive" the car.

Definitely go for the C2, especially if you plan on using it for that long.
In short drives, cruise control doesn't matter. With any kind of road trips, you will learn to love it, especially in this car.
We also recently got married and got our Prius C2 before having kids. We love the car, and I don't know what we would do without the split seats now that we have a kid.
There is not a lot of space in the hatch, so unless you plan to use a different car for all trips with a significant amount of shopping, you want to be able to split the seats.

You may never plan on doing this.. but.. we recently did a 1700 mile road trip with a 10 month old that included a destination which was completely off the grid. The cruise control and the folding seats were absolute necessities.
By the way, averaged around 55mpg on the trip, which is a major improvement from the last time we did this trip in a fairly economical honda civic and only got about 31mpg.

There is also the question of resale value of a car without cruise control in 2023, when most new cars will have at least adaptive cruise control.

 

You can probably buy a center console on ebay for cheap if you get the 1. You could also add a cheap stick-on light in the trunk.

I'd think cruise control would be useful with such a long commute - it can increase mpgs (though it can also hurt them) and if a person has a tendency to speed, it would prevent costly tickets. The point about the resale value of a car without cruise control (and other features the 2 has) is a good one, unless you don't plan on selling it.
