Anyone else get a letter recently informing them that Sirius XM had a system glitch that allowed the trial Sirius that came with their v to continue after the 3 month trial period? I did and I feel like Milton from Office Space having the payroll system glitch fixed.

I figured there was something wrong when my 3 month trial just kept going despite all the shut off warnings Sirius sent but I figured it had something to do with their inability to turn off the radio while keeping my 3 yr traffic and weather trial. Well they figured it out after 9 months of enjoying a free subscription and as much as I don't want to pay for it, my kids have already fallen in love with Kenny's Animal Farm on The Kids Place channel. I may find myself paying for this after all :(

Anyone else get the same letter? What are you going to do?

Don't accept their first offer...which I think was $14.95 a month. I finally got it for half price with no time limit. I think that is a pretty good deal as I really like some of the Sirius stations.

Wife got her 3 months free from Carmax on her used 2010 Prius. They wasted no time shutting it off after 3 months and hounding her day and night to sign up. Think one of the last offers was a year for $77.

:)Had my Prius since late January. Get another letter every week. Currently have four paid subscriptions (3 cars and one at work). Been a subscriber since 1999. You get a reduced rate after the first. What's one more, especially since the Prius will become my full time daily driver in four months. Satellite (SiriusXM) radio along with DirecTV is cheap entertainment in my opinion.

I have a lifetime subscription on a portable unit. I had thought about transferring it my Prius v however if you do that, it stays with the car. Just seems to be a petty rule and requires another $500+ to turn it on again in another vehicle.

    Is my Lifetime subscription transferable?
If you purchased your Lifetime subscription
    • Before June 20, 2005: Yes, it is transferable from one radio to another any number of times.*
    • From June 20, 2005 until September 7, 2007: Yes, your Lifetime subscription is transferable a maximum of three times.*
    • On or after September 8, 2007: Lifetime subscriptions associated with home, portable or dock & play radios can be transferred a maximum of three times.* Lifetime subscriptions first associated with or transferred to radios installed in vehicles by automakers or dealers are NOT transferable unless the radio is stolen, accidentally damaged or defective.
Once a lifetime subscription associated with a home, portable, or dock & play radio is transferred to a radio installed by an automaker or dealer, the subscription becomes non-transferable. Otherwise, Lifetime subscriptions associated with a home, portable or dock & play radio can be transferred a maximum of three times, for a fee.*

Please call 1-866-635-2349 to make the transfer. Read more about Lifetime Plans in our Customer Agreement. Please note that Lifetime subscriptions are no longer being offered to new subscribers.

*There is a $75 fee for each permitted transfer. Each of the fees which you may be charged will be subject to applicable taxes.

I've never really liked the Sirius delivery. My first long trip I tried it out, and generally found myself flipping through the cumbersome find the channel/genre selections. Lost interest and went back to radio and itunes.

First, I received a letter telling me to call them about the deals on service. No internet option, I had to call them. Then their calls started. Twice every day, never a message. Then 3-4 times a day as the deadline approached. I knew it was them, because I Googled the number, and found many others had complained about the incessant calls.

If they do shut off service, I'll never know ;)

I kept re-doing mine for $5/month until after almost two years and dropped it. Now they want me back for $4/month. I'll pass as I now have my phone wired through the aux plug with 16 Gb of my own music.

Well the friendly "we are going to fix the glitch" letter offered me 6 months @ $25. I think I'll do that. But I can't bring myself to pay 14.95 or whatever it is for the 12 minutes a day commute for which my kids love Kids Place Live. I enjoy a few of the stations but just not enough time per day that I get $15/mo utility.

For those of you who held out near the end of subscription for a lower price, does Sirius keep doing that for you? Ie they offer 7.99/mo for 6 months; you hold out again near the end of that 6 months; and sirius again offers to extend @ $7.99/mo? Or do you really just get one cheap period and then full price is the only option?

Mine is due for Auto-renewal on 10/23 and there is no option on the website to opt-out, change card to invalid one etc. I have to remember to call a couple days before the end to cancel and hope for the same type lower offers.

I'm frankly amazed they are still in business. Tons of competition, all of which is free. Nobody else harasses me to join and pay. They are an incredibly bad outfit to deal with. Now Comcast and Sirius are my two targets of hate.

    LOL

Just checked my XM subscription which expires, at least according to the online info, Sept 29. Last I talked to a support person it expired Nov 29. Dealing with them in any meaningful way is like being at the dentist, jaw numbing.

I siriusly enjoy Phlash Phelps but for the 20 mins /day I get to listen the published price is not money well spent. I haven't received a letter but being in Canada I'm thinking that the glitch was a US thing. If, and it's a big if, I can get the service for $4 - $5 / month I'll continue but otherwise I'll just have to live without XM radio.

They happened to turn my Syrius on this past week as an inducement. I was traveling up in the West VA mountains on major major roads through the mountains and losing signal regularly. Once off road in PA I'd lose signal if on a partially tree covered road. OTOH, from DC to Raleigh I kept signal just fine. So it all depends on your sight line and there doesn't seem enough buffering, error correction and delay built into the system. Fine for open roads on the flat.

They will offer you deals for years after your initial subscription expires. They are always better than list.

I play games with my cable company and their promotional rates all the time rather than agree to their standard rates. They always have a promotion for 6 months they can get me into rather than lose me when I tell them I have a DirecTV receiver in the storage room I can always activate. (it is only 7 years old and obsolete as heck but why mention that).

Bought my v used with 10k miles on it. Since I've had it, the SiriusXM just keeps on going and going... working for free.

I just checked and found that the sat radio in my wife's Prius v Five/ATP is still working over one year after she purchased the car. I wouldn't give 5 cents to renew the sat radio service - OK ... maybe 5 cents but not much more but only if it was a lifetime subscription.

It might be different if we didn't have smart phones and Internet service where we drive. Pandora, Slacker, iHeart and the 70,000 radio stations on the Tunein Internet radio service are plenty for us and they are all free - at least they are for now.

The data plans aren't free, and I've heard from many that are "unlimited", and get throttled back for enormous usage. I've used the Satellite, and that was that. Had my iPod and iPhone, and use it. But I still like the radio, depending on whether I have a good station or not. Some things aren't really improved by technology, some are merely enhanced.
