    Sorry for the late response. The Infant Positioning Insert is essentially required to fit a newborn safely in a Britax Convertible. The Head and Body Support Pillow is an optional comfort item. I believe you can use both, but would have to verify this.

    Depends how you adjust it. I leave mine near the back of its possible travel due to the fact that I so rarely have anything or anyone in the back.
