I picked up my new Prius Plug-in Base yesterday from Acton Toyota outside of Boston. Went with the 2 year lease deal, but might buy it at the end of the term unless the 2016 Prius ends up surprising me. I've had lots of opportunities to drive the PiP over the last couple of years and have always enjoyed it despite its drawbacks. Really enjoying having my own so far. This ended up being great timing with the lease cash, and I was coming up to Boston for a wedding in Cape Cod this weekend anyway. Looking forward to the 1,000 mile road trip home Sunday and Monday. The good people at Acton Toyota treated me really well, have a beautiful dealership, and I will have some exciting news to share about a partnership with Acton Toyota and PriusChat very soon. For those who don't know, I've actually not owned a Prius in over 2 years, so it's nice to have one to call my own again. Look for lots of mods soon!
let me be the first to say, congrats!!! you went all the way to acton from n.c.? i should have gone there, but i thought an hour was too far. i guess the wedding was a good excuse. all the best my friend!
Wow...you haven't owned a Prius for two years? I find that news somewhat shocking. What have you been driving? Please don't tell me it has been a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. And Yes, Welcome to Prius Chat! Be sure to check out the "Newbie" forum, and The Search Function is your friend.
Congrats Danny! Enjoy.... the PIP is an amazing vehicle. ... and your first upgrade will be ????? FWIW- I urge you to look into the EVSE upgrade- it makes a world of difference being able to charge at 240v at home.
Awesome! I just sealed the deal on buying a dealership's demo 2012 PiP for a fantastic price, but I have to get it from NJ to WI now. Thought about flying out to get it, but having it shipped was just easier and more economical than flying two people there on short notice (driving 1000 miles in 2 days alone? bleh!), and the dealership was just as happy to do the deal over phone and FedEx. Mine is winter gray as well, but I am adding on the lower rocker panels, because it looks sweeeeeet on the gray PiP.
There is only 19 in our Top 20 MPGe thread so after your 1000 mile trip home post a pic of your ratio screen and get on the list!
Congrats and welcome to the PiP club! Damn that is a nice color! I thought you stole mine for a second! Here she is with some tint....
Congratulations on your selection of brand, model, and color. This reminds me of a sign at a restaurant I once saw. "We eat our own food!"
Yay! I can't believe it's been that long. I recall that you were originally going to replace that '10 Prius you sold w/a Prius v wagon... It did strike me as ironic that the Priuschat founder no longer had a Prius or even a Toyota Motor Co. hybrid...
Congrats, Danny. Great choice on the cleanest plugin hybrid with largest cargo. It is efficient on both fuels. Charge it often at every oppirtunity and you'll be amazed at what it can do with a smaller PHV battery.
May I add my congratulations to all the above. Nice to have you "legally" back in the fold. And you are also to be congratulated on your excellent taste in choosing the best color available.
I have been selling Toyota for the last 8 years and finally bought my own Prius plugin base model 3 weeks ego. I love my car and because I work 6 miles away from my house, I can charge the main battery and in EV mode just go back and forth on electric power alone. if not driving in Ev mode , I get about 45-46 miles
And think of the customers who will benefit from having a sales person who actually knows something about the PiP, what a bonus for them!
