I am looking into upgrading the OEM system in the car. The first thing I would like to do is add an amplifier and subwoofer. I already have a Rockford Fosgate 8" sub with a 200 Watt RMS amp. I am interested in what vehicle performance impact this has on the C. Will I see a drop in MPG? If so, how big? The next step would be a new head unit. I am interested in the Parrot Asteroid Smart because I like the idea of an Android head unit. But other suggestions would be appreciated. And then I would follow-up that upgrade with new components all the way around.
I have a stock headunit on C3, navigation, added some polk 6.5 and a Boss BASS600 amplified sub 300rms. Sounds fantastic and no loss in mpg.
Thanks for the quick responses. I should have mentioned, I have a C2. Glad to hear the losses are negligible. I have been averaging about 53 MPG thus far and I drive about 130 miles a day, 50/50 split between city and highway. I need a better system considering the amount I am in the car. SPH-L720 ? 4
looking foward to the install. what speakers are you upgrading too, if you are? and are you running an amp?
Leaving the stock HU AudioControl LC2i - Used to create pre-outs and turn-on lead for the aftermarket amp. Polk Audio MM6501's up front. Polk Audio MM650's in the rear. Dynamat extreme on all the doors and trunk JL Audio XD700/5 - 75W by 4 & 300W for the Sub JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3: Single 8W3v3 MicroSub, Ported. JL Audio HD-RLC to control the bass Speaker, Power and Ground wires are Knu Konceptz Fuse Holder, Distribution Block are also Knu Konceptz All existing functions of the Stock HU will still work. I installed a very similar system in my 2013 Nissan LEAF except mine is 100W by 4 and 600W for the sub. You can see my install pics here I will take pics of each step of my Wife's Prius C and post them for reference. Lasareath (well this post had links and videos of each device but since this is my first post on this forum I am not allowed to post them, so maybe I'll post them in the future)
I received all the gear I need, Speakers, Sub, Wires, Amp, LC2i, everything, Just trying to figure out which couple of days I can do the install. When I did mine in my LEAF it took 25 hours. 12 hours one day, 13 the next so I'm pretty sure this will take just as long. I need to find links on removing door panels and running a power line to the 12V battery. On my car there was an unused 1/2" grommet through the firewall that I was able to run my 4 Gauge power line through. The only hard part is that it was behind the glovebox. Are there any unused holes through the Firewall on the C? Thanks, Lasareath
one of my favorite "features" of the car. mounting the amp under the front passenger seat; the power and ground wires are about 3 ft long, each.
