I am just wondering, can anyone tell me which springs in the pic below are the rear Prius Plus Lowering Springs and which are the front?
The wider ones are the fronts. The ones with the dead coils are the rears (the dead coils go on top).
Yeah, the five coils that are scrunched up. When the springs are installed, those coils will stack up and touch, so it's really only the three coils at the bottom that are doing anything. This is what it'll look like.
The dead coils basically operate as a spacer and maintain the correct height and progressive spring rate.
How is the ride with the lowering springs? I am in a process on purchasing at 2013 Prius Persona with Lowering Springs installed, I believe this OEM lowering springs dealer installed. Do I need to add stabilizer bars, strut bars and lower brace to notice a big difference?
I would add the rear sway bar, it's sorta a no brainier, part of the Prius Plus kit, priced well and easy to install.
I think you'll be fine with just the rear-sway bar as an additional add-on. All the rest are nice but the return on investment is incrementally less.
I was told that the dead coils help to mate with the chassis so should be on top, but not sure how much difference it makes.
Generally speaking, the spring should be oriented so the writing on the coil is right side up. Most of the spring installs I've done/seen have the dead coils up top, but I have seen them the other way around.
