Amazing to see that the 'lowest' on average is in the low 40s....when other cars are fighting to get into the 30s. I wish I bought a Prius sooner. Current one is for my wife. Might have to break down to get myself one when I replace my current car in the future.
I had a 2012 accent before this. I was getting mid 30s bit that was driving it hard..... Very hard lol. I think I'd be able to get 40s driving it the way I drive the prius. Prius is a 100x better car though. I'll have to post a comparison one day.
Low 30's driving from Cape Cod to Boulder with a Big Mac container on top, a hitch mounted bike rack with 2 bikes, 2 dachshunds and 3 five gallon buckets containing fish, all the while running an air pump for the fish.
5.1l/100km driving home in the record high temperature 45.8 degrees (114 F) Sydney had on the 18 January 2013
I was hoping to read some poor MPG's like in the 30's.. to make me feel better since I'm average only mid 40's. Come one, I see a few high 30's but there's gotta be more? My worse average was in high 30's, 37/38mpg with the Prius 5 rental I had prior to buying mine. This wasn't for the whole tank though AND I wasn't privy to hybrid technics then. This was somewhat aggressive driving and in hilly area.
I got about 35 MPG on my first tank, or at least no better than that, it could have been worse, since I'm not sure exactly when the trip odometer was reset by the dealer.
When we get over 110 degrees here, mileage drops like a rock - especially on short commutes. Even using careful starts and slow regen braking, best I can do on a hot day is 42 mpg. I'm sure I could do worse if I decided to put my foot into it. I've tried ECO mode but in summer it's just too much to suffer thru.
When I had my 2005 Prius. Interstate driving, 85 mph, 104 degrees f, Air cond. on high!, driving into a 35 mph head wind across Montana. Two people and lots of luggage! 36.4 MPG!
My wife driving it - 33.3 MPG. I tried to match it, I couldn't; I always got a higher MPG. She always wins.
I was averaging 48 until my first service. Then my average dropped to 43. I did find they had reduced my tire pressure to 32, but that didn't restore my mileage after I added more air. 43 average is my worst so far for a running tank.
We average high 30s just running around town etc........ I just found out that the starting battery was bad.......any chance that it could have impacted the MPGs negatively?
