Is it safe to drive your Prius when there is lighting? My wife heard rumors and was a bit skeptical about driving it during a thunderstorm since it is run by batteries? All input greatly appreciated.

Because a car is on rubber, it's not exactly grounded, lightning will not seek it for ground
A search will satisfy your curiosity, as no prii have yet been taken out by lightning.tmhk

Yes you want lighting. Otherwise you can't see.:D

I think you mean lightning. That's just an old wifes tale.:D. You will be fine. The Prius is my only car. It goes rain or shine.

Yea, I was wondering about that.
OP, you may want to fix the title.

The OP can click on edit in his first post, when the box pops up, he then clicks on more options. When that comes up, he can then edit the title and save the changes.

Cars do get hit by lightning. If that big spark can jump through 10,000 feet of air above, it can also jump 5 inches below. An area motorcyclist is recovering after being struck by lightning on I-5 near Chehalis just two days ago.
Motorcyclist hit by lightning in stormy end-of-week weather | Local News | The Seattle Times

Car passengers are generally safe, as the lightning follows the metal frame. Motorcyclists are not so protected, the guy above lost some hair melted to the inside of his helmet.
You didn't search very hard, here is one: 08 Prius struck by Lightning! Passengers unhurt, some electronics destroyed. The OP is the repair guy, and has some insight into what gets damaged in other struck cars as well as the Prius.
