Hi All, have not been on the forums in quite some time. My 2009 Prius has been the best car I've owned. Just hit 100,000 miles with no issues. Only things I ever had to do outside of oil change and tire rotation was to replace the tires and the headlights. Lifetime MPG was 52. Very happy with the car. Two days ago on the way to work, I was in an accident where my car was clipped, which spun me sideways and into a concrete wall at 60mph. Car hit a couple times, then landed on the driver side. Thankfully there was no additional impact after that point. My car was on it's side with the roof pointed toward traffic. After help arrived, they stabilized the car and removed the windshield the rest of the way, and I was able to crawl out. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance where all tests were negative. Only a strained neck. No broken bones, no cuts... I'm assuming the car to be a total loss judging by the significant damage. But it did it's job protecting me in the crash. I was and am very lucky to have walked away from such a major accident. Will have to see how things go with insurance, but likely will buy another Prius.
Wow. Glad you were largely unscathed. Let us know when you have your new Prius. That one is done, rest her soul.
Good you came through this. Watch out for your neck though. Looking at the picture, and considering your year, you're likely correct about it being a write-off. I see a lot of Prius in similar state outside a nearby auto wrecker.
Very lucky indeed! Hope all turns out OK. Insurance companies are not the best folks too deal with at times H
You don't have to assume. That car will be totaled. Make sure you are healthy...then try to enjoy getting into your next Prius.
I'm impressed the rearview mirror stayed stuck. Was it the original factory installed windshield? Great car and very safe. I've never see the thermos exposed before so that (relatively) interesting. Glad you weren't hurt.
Glad you are ok.. If you still have access to that car, I would strip what you can before the insurance company takes it!
Everything on the car was original. Yes, it was interesting to see that still stuck on after the windshield was peeled away.
Thanks all for the good wishes. The Prius has a pretty favorable crash test rating. Just wanted to show everyone an example where it earned the score.
Oh man....but you sound very strong though. That's a nasty lick. May you heal quickly. Sometimes it seems the Prius is a magnet for sore necks. Kinda scary.
