    What it is:
It's a 4kWh battery that fits in the spare-tire area and charges your Hybrid battery and electric motor for better fuel economy.

    Benefits:
    - Save Gas -> Save Money
    - Electric Vehicle mode is possible for longer distances.
    - If you run out of gas you can drive in EV mode to a gas station.

The batteries, BMS and charger all fit in the spare-tire area beneath a stainless steel panel bolted to the frame. The converter is mounted with exhaust fans exiting at the fender air vent, and next to it is the spare tire, with easy access beneath the carpeted cargo area.

    Components:
    4 kWh Li-Ion batteries
    Battery Management System
    5000w converter outputs up to 13 A @ 238v
    1kW charger
    Plug-N-Play quick disconnects
    Dashboard switch with LED
    Battery Management LCD

    Description:
I have two Plug-In Prius conversion products for sale and both are guaranteed to be working on arrival. One is new (installed and tested OK) and one product was used daily for my commute and received 60-65 MPG average, sometimes higher, for up to 40-60 miles per charge, over a period of nearly 6 months. This is a 25%-35% improvement over the normal Prius fuel economy. I experienced no problems aside from the fact that the product does not qualify for the California HOV Sticker - if it did, I would continue to use it, but instead my wife and I are going to buy a new EV or PHEV.

    Installation, Parts and Service:
Installation is easy. Parts are very easy to install and to remove. If you have a ScanGauge or other device with OBDII connector, then you can easily verify that the product is working or troubleshoot a problem by going for a drive.

If you require service, there are many parts and service locations in U.S. that have spare parts or know where to get them: Ecotronics (Detroit, MI), Boulder Hybrid Conversions (Boulder, CO), 3Prong Power (San Francisco Bay Area), Re-Go (Minneapolis, MN), and many others, about 40 total in the U.S. (see Installers Prius Plugin PHEV Conversion Kit with Lithium-Ion | Hybrid Plug In). Ecotronics has the largest inventory of replacement parts. Boulder Hybrid Conversions (Colorado) is highly recommended for service, repair and replacement because they and their sibling company 3-Prong Power (California) are the biggest, best and most experienced in the nation for Enginer product distribution and service.

    Warranty:
Enginer apparently went out of business in November, selling all inventory to Ecotronics, therefore the two year warranty is no longer honored by the manufacturer.

    Shipping and Installation:
If you live in Southwest United States (California, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico), I travel in the area frequently and I may be able to deliver it to you and help you to install it. If you want it shipped, you'll have to pay actual shipping costs and either install it yourself or pay an Enginer installer to do it. Detailed installation instructions are available.

I prefered mounting it on the left.

Are one of your units still available? If so, do you have a shipping container. I have a shop in Black Mountain, N.C.

    Hi Billy68,

My apologies for the delay in response. At the time you posted I was wrapped up in a family vacation before our son moved in to college on Monday.

Although I did sell both of the Enginer 4kW Prius conversions, I do have a one more 4kW system that I have been using at home as a standalone emergency battery backup. We've only used it a few times when the power in my neighborhood goes out, and for events like the ASES Solar Tour as demonstration, for tour attendees, to demonstrate the versatility of electric vehicles and home emergency battery backup. All the components of the home standby system are the same as the 4kW Prius conversion, except for the 5kW converter and the battery box case. Boulder Hybrid Conversions has a 5kW converter and the in-the-wheel-well battery box, so if you are still interested, you can have a complete 4kW system for your Gen II Prius. It will have all the same components as in the Prius Chat advertisement at the same price.

Additionally, if you want the 3,000 watt 110v output modified sine wave inverter for home battery backup, I am willing to include that in the deal. The 3kW 110v power inverter can make your Prius a mobile power station. Because I travel so much, manual switching to battery backup during a power outage event is no longer practical. I just purchased and installed a Sunny Island home standby battery backup system to work with my solar photovoltaic array, and the Sunny Island has automatic transfer to protect our refrigerator and freezer when we are away from home.

Please let me know if you are interested. Again, my apologies for the delay in response. You can reach me anytime at 760-809-3391.

    Cheers,
    Charlie

P.S. The wheel skirts and hubcaps came from Hybrid Effects.
