Hi All! This is my first post but I have been reading the board for the past 6 months awaiting the arrival of my Prius and learning so much. I just picked up my white, #8 yesterday and it is all I can think about!! I love this car. I cannot believe how fantastic this car is. I can say good-bye to my fast driving as I am obsessed with the consumption and energy screens! Looking forward to chatting with you all and asking many questions as I dig deeper. I am very excited to be a part of the Prius world. Happy driving! Tracy
Tracy, welcome! No, you really can't love your Prius enough. I'm also a new owner (picked up the Rhino on Monday!!) and I'm still excited about it. Soon, you'll find yourself driving as if in a video game...Trying to maximize your MPG and energy!! Who knew that a car could be so much fun!! Again, welcome to the family!! tom
Welcome to PriusChat, and congratulations on your Prius! Where ya from? (Some of us are always trying to get members to post that, as it makes any future potential problems brought up to be checked out.) If you've been lurking, you know you're joining a cult, right?
Tracy, It took a while for my wife to get used to my love affair with a car. She has finally come around after two years. Happy coasting. (as you watch the display go up to 99 mpg)
I picked up my wife's Prius the second week of January. It is amazing how differently I drive her car as opposed to my Accord. With her car, I play the "mileage champ" game. With my Accord, it just loves to run and I let it. As getting the Prius meant we had three vehicles, and only two drivers, the Accord will soon be going and I will drive my Diesel. Have Fun!!!!!
Our cult's a bit different. There's a confessional, and it's on Dr. Evan Fusco's back porch in Nixa, MO. Go there if you cast covetous eyes on a Honda Civic Hybrid (or worse, a "hybrid" GMC pickup getting 13 MPG instead of 12). For the secret handshake, see Dave in Oly.
I think I love my car too much too. If there is such a thing as loving one's car too much, of course. And welcome to PC!
I too love my car...or should I say my brand new car! I am truly, madly and deeply in love with this inanimate object...it just makes my green heart sing!!! I've talked about purchasing a Prius for the last 5 months as the gas prices continued to creep upwards and settle in at high cost per gallon in this rural Southwest NM town (steady at $2.39 per gallon for unleaded for three months). Then I did my taxes a few weeks ago and realized I had completely stopped driving my GMC Jimmy SLT in August and had been relying on our fleet for any and all business related travel. This past Saturday I drove in to our local dealership here in Silver City, traded in the Jimmy, and drove out of the dealership (at MSRP and no more) with my brand new Prius. No regrets, no buyers remorse, no wondering what I will drive when I go out to the field (I'll rent or use the work 4X4). Ahhh, what a feeling!
Traffic?? What traffic?? I'm lucky, I live in rural NM...not much traffic unless you count the 4:45p-5:00p rush hour and waiting 4-5 minutes to get through one of the few traffic lights on the main drag in town. Although I do need to watch for cattle (free-range state) and bicycle riders (Tour of the Gila is coming up in a few months and folks are already high altitude training).
Welcome and congrats to you, too! you must live somewhere near Charlie Graham (cgraham here), who lives in those parts. He's near Roswell. Sadly, I've only passed through Tucumcari, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and visited the Four Corners. Some beautiful country. Like your governor, too. B)
I know.. When I come home, my wife says " How is Baby tonight?" (not me of course)... "Did you buy anything for Baby today?" OK, so I ordered a few things!!!
