42mpg over the course of a tank. My first tank used. Not sure what caused such low mpg. That is calculated also.
22 MPG at 100 mph I prefer bi-directional, 10 mile segments when plotting MPG vs mph to take out wind and elevation effects. Unfortunately, there was no 'turn around' so this one data point is not enough to add to my chart: However, the data point does appear to be within the expected range. Bob Wilson
Actually my worst mileage was the time I forgot to turn off the car when I got to work and came out several hours later. It did not cover 10 miles but I'm pretty sure it was 0 MPG. Bob Wilson
I live at the top of a hill actually. =) My daily route usually takes me to the beach before work. That's a 13mile stretch where usually avg in the mid 60s for the trip. I'm guessing that's what helps my mpg stay higher.
prep the car - tires max sidewall; transmission oil changed, twice, and; ordinary engine oil changes warm-up - first 1-1.5 miles, speed of 25 mph by cutting through neighborhood or let engine run to auto shutoff on first start speed - use cruise control and follow, not tailgate, slowest traffic route - take shorter, slower route over longer, faster route . . . the Prius is resistant to stopping costs +5 miles to everywhere - work is 10 miles away and better grocery stores and shopping are 5 miles away shop near home on the way back from work or other errands Bob Wilson
Not when the quality and price of the distant stores exceeds that of everything in between: Costco - 6 miles, best prices for bulk goods and gasoline Star Market - 6 miles, fully staffed, meat market (i.e., bone-in, ribeye, $9/lb) Propst Drug Store - across street from Star Market, lowest prices, best service since 1985 work - 10 miles late night bars (1:30 AM last call) - 5.5 miles downtown Spending a little more (thanks to Prius, very little more) for better quality and lower cost . . . in the total scheme of things, life is better. 36 mpg during winter in Little Rock. I drive up and down a lot of hills and there's stop signs too. temperature did not get above 55 all day. My average is from the 300 miles when I'm filling up. I have a gen 2 battery in a 2001 prius! so normally i get 44 mpg and once in awhile when I'm driving sensibly I get up to 50 mpg.
35.4 MPG snowed in at Christmas, so long warmups to see out, drove on snow and ice for 12 hours through mountains
Oh, worst tank or fill-up? In the 2003 Prius one the day I picked it up: 10/08/2005 - 39 MPG, 251 miles, 6.4 gallons This was the first fill-up on first drive from dealer at Ft. Worth Tx to Shreveport LA on I-20 driving at Texas traffic speeds, ~75 mph. 10/09/2005 - 39.1 MPG, 82 miles, 2.1 gallons Confirmed 39 MPG at 75 mph. Lowest 2010 Prius fill-up: 1/14/2011 - 42.8 MPG, 372 miles, 8.69 gallons A trip to Nashville and back. Bob Wilson
