Turns out that our problem was caused by the hybrid battery needing to be replaced & luckily we are still within the 96 month warranty !!
    Great news for us !!!!
    Thanks Toyota !!!!
We will pick up the repaired Prius Monday 8/26 & should be good for many many more miles.
Thanks for all the help offered here.
    Later.

    Hi All

Following up on a request to post my observations with the new Hybrid battery in our 2006 Prius.
First thing is that the warranty on this NEW battery is only good until we have owned the car for the original warranty period - eight years. So our NEW Hybrid battery we have has a warranty for only one more year. I disagree but that is what we got from the service advisor. Hopefully it will last lots longer !
Aside from that disappointment, the car no longer hesitates or jumps ahead a little at a stop light which it had been doing. And we have noticed nothing else new or changed, as this car ran great before this battery was replaced.
If there is anything to add later, we will.
    Later.

Glad you got it fixed under warranty. What makes me wonder about the claimed 1
year warranty is:::: Is it a reman battery or a NEW battery. If it's a NEW battery,
I would call the parts department as a new customer and ask for a price and availability
and what the over the counter warranty is ??? Just to be sure of the warranty period.
Most dealer parts have a standard 12/12 over the counter, but some items have more.
Like a battery should. In California they cover them for 10 years and 150K miles on
a new car purchase. I just wonder what type of warranty they come with, NEW ???

The usual Toyota parts warranty is for a one-year duration and I believe you will find this applies to a traction battery purchased over the counter.

In the case of the traction battery replaced under warranty, the warranty for the replacement battery should be for the remainder of the original period, since you incurred no repair cost. I'm wondering why you would expect the warranty to be extended beyond that period?

If you can come up with an example of another consumer product where the original warranty is extended due to a repair, please let me know.

Bill, your experience with your car provides good info for reference. Have you owned the car since it was new? If not how long? How would characterize the way you have serviced the car and the majority of the driving condition for that time, ie., mostly city, mostly highway, what percentage split? Is it a daily ride or now and then? How many times have you changed the 12V? Do you typically run the AC maintaining temps in the 70's? Do you have dogs that ride in the back often? Any info you can provide will be appreciated.

Exactly what I was thinking, a cell or two dropped too low from lack of charge. My manual says to run it every two weeks to keep the batts. up.
