So originally I had 2 10 inch subs that took up the whole cargo area, that was a novelty to have 2 subs with a boat load of power. My prius isn't even sound deadened so having that much bass sounded like nice person at high volumes. Now I'm not saying a high powered sub install will sound crappy, I'm just saying rattling panels is not cool. I decided I want to focus on sound quality, space savings and bought the Morel Ultimo. Firstly let me say the morel really is a step above the rest in sound, it's just a really accurate woofer and has no lagginess to it. It sounds like an integrated part of the system and not a separate add on, even at high volumes it maintains a crisp clean sound. It is rated for 1000 watts which is plenty of bass and will shake your car.

I designed a ported box to fit 38 inches wide by 13 inches high, this allowed me to use all available space in the cargo area while being able to cover the sub box with the cargo cover shade and also allowed me to be able to access my storage area underneath.

Don't leave us hangin'! What are the other components of the system?
I've been sitting on a custom sub enclosure for my Prius waiting to figure out how
best to integrate with the JBL system...still need an amp and processor.

Well I have an audio control eqs and that is getting speaker level inputs tapped from the jbl amp outputs. From the eqs I have RCAs running to my sub amp DD m2a, amp is getting 4 gauge power and ground, subs get 10 gauge knu karma speaker wire. I'm really pleased with this setup, I only need to sound deaden And that's it

Aren't you worried about the equalization applied by the JBL system? Apparently it's custom tailored to the factory speakers and the car's acoustics. I was considering a JBL MS-8 to undo all of that and give clean signal for an aftermarket amp.

Yeah I really want a Rockford thirty six3 or whatever it's called, but to be honest the factory equalization really isn't that bad or even too evident from low volume to high. So I'm in no rush to get the 3sixty.3, but if didn't have the audiocontrol eqs with speaker level inputs I would definently get the 3.sixty.3 now.

small update on sub, got a new design from pwk designs.com meant to emphasize the low end( huge output at 27-40 hz). so the design is a rear loading horn, and it sounds excellent, now I really need to sound deaden bad.
