I have recently bought a 07 prius package 3 I believe with nav, bluetooth, jbl 9 speaker. I have really liked the car and its features so far besides the sound system. What I would love is a complete list for n00bs like myself to get us started. I have seen many threads about the non JBL system and one about the 6 speaker JBL but not one has described my prius.

Another question is whether I should get aftermarket speakers throughout the car or just replace the currently blown speakers with the new JBL replacement speakers and keep stock. (Im planning on putting another AMP and one 12" Sub in the car)

Should i still do stealth install? (I would like to keep steering wheel controls possible)

    This is my current list:
    Kenwood KAC-8105D

    Sony CDX-GT570UP

    PAC TATO Factory Integration Adapter

    Rockford Fosgate Prime R1675X2

    PAC SWI-RC

I would be interested in this I also have a 9 speaker JBL system. I would like to swap out the head unit, but I rather not have to replace the amp under the seat or do any major rewiring.

I don't mind the sound of the JBL, but the bluetooth refuses to work with my android 4.3 phone and I would like to be able to play MP3's for a USB stick.

if it was me, i'd replace the crappy oe speakers with better aftermarket 4ohm speakers first. the jbl system apparently can't be easily retrofitted; the power amp and head unit are integrated so that it requires rewiring the car to change the head unit. if money is no object, a high end shop could definitely replace the whole system and put a good power amp in place of the jbl unit. one possible upgrade for the 04-06 might be a later jbl headunit which has the aux jack. i'm not sure how easy that would be though.
also, many folks prefer to disconnect the center dash speaker. they say it sounds better that way.

Thanks, to much expense to me. My 04 has a tape deck so I can use that to get a line in, not ideal but better than nothing. Now that you mention it I have noticed center speaker sounding a bit flat, I will disconnect it.

I am considering replacing the JBL head unit with one from ebay maybe it will improve the bluetooth? However they are few and far between on ebay in the UK. And ones from the US will cost me a fortune in postage then I have to pay 20% VAT on top of the ebay cost of the unit!

Sorry for hijacking you thread. Sounds like you need to either pull or replace the under seat amp, replace speakers, and do a decent amount of rewiring! Good luck.
