Nice bike rack, and I like the extra cargo compartment on the rearmost bike. But haven't you got the cargo topper on backwards? The correct approach is to travel through the air while leaving as little of it disturbed as possible. Look at a fish or an airplane (very aerodynamic shapes that put the C to shame), with a rounded front end tapering gradually to nothing at the back end. How is the fuel economy in the configuration you've shown?
Looks like too much weight on the back, as the body is pretty pushed down at the rear, how are the breaks and mpg?
We didn't notice much difference. No special adjustment in how we drive, brake, only for the length of the car when we park. I did not notice the body being pushed down either - it must be the bad photo. I checked with my husband, the other driver, and he's of the same opinion.
I would double check the bike closest to the car. It might catch the front wheel if you're not careful
Looks like a Rhino rack. I have a brand new one for sale. I never used it because I traded my C for a C-Max. $300.00 bucks plus shipping and it's yours.
Yes, our rack is a Rhino rack - the only one we found available that fits a Prius C. The price for a new one with shipping and warranty was $305.10 in total. Installation was easy - done by my 13yo daughter, under supervision.
what sort of MPG are you getting with the roof rack. due to traveling I am either getting a roof rack or a trailer hitch and platform. Also, is your rhino rack installed backward like the other poster asked? looks like the rhino rack would give me more space if i went with it versus a trailer hitch and platform BUT the trailer hitch and platform would be less affect on the MPG since it doesn't affect the aerodynamic shape of the car. (i don't think anyway?)
Thanks for the details on the bike rack, Maria. The dealer I went to didn't recommend getting a trailer hitch for some reason, but it looks like the bike rack is attached to one in these pictures. Like Ubu, I'm not sure why a hitch would be a problem...
