Aloha, Got a Remin dash kit from CarID. It is real Japanese Cherry Wood. Total time took about 5hrs. This included checking the parts list, test fitting the pieces, prepping and cleaning the surfaces as well as applying the adhesion promoter and application. Wife loves it and have had nothing but great comments! Local Dealer wants to arrange a photo shoot for display in the showrooms.
Damn that looks nice I wouldn't mind taking a look at that in person. Now I am off to see what they have for a Gen. III.
Aloha, There are some extra pieces, since I don't have a navi. Might be able to do something with those ! Maybe on my cats?
Nice, nice job. I was just looking at the WOW real wood trim at Prius accessory an wondering how long it took. What happens if you put it in and get a wrinkle, get a second chance?
Aloha, Took about 5hrs total. This is a Remin full dash kit, 57 pcs. I used 54 of pieces. The WOW kit, has less pieces (42pcs.) for the center console . That's why I went with the Remin kit. Luckily didn't have that problem. the pieces are pretty thick, about 5mm. Very heavy clear top, thin wood veneer and the 3m foam tape. Test fit each piece a few times and worked slowly and carefully. If you don't press down on the piece, you can lift it up to correct alignment. Only had to do this a few times during the initial placement to line up one corner/edge. Never had to remove a piece completely.
Very nice. Now you need to do something about the OEM plastic steering wheel. Maybe a JDM wood or leather steering wheel? SCH-I535
Aloha, The steering wheel seems to be made of a textured "hard rubber"? It's definitely not plastic. Thinking of getting a wheelskins wheel cover. Maybe two tone perforated in green and tan or brown.
Aloha, The steering wheel pieces aren't adhering on the top where it curves over the top. Working with Car ID and will be sending measurements to Remin to have "custom pieces" made. They won't curve over, but should be still look okay. I'll be sending them the measurements and hopefully this should work. I'll post and have pics once this is done. Probably the problem is the real wood veneer. If it were simulated wood, it probably wouldn't be an issue.
I installed the carbon fiber one in mine. I have the same issues with the pieces on the steering wheel. Maybe extra adhesive would fix it? Doesn't bother me too much.
5mm thick? Maybe 0.5mm. Good job and look like luxury car indeed. How about the steering wheel above with wood all around?
