I just ordered a set of Nippon Type-C wheels, hopefully going to get them next week. I have read they are around 11 lbs. (15x6.5), and SUPER cheap from wheelworldblowouts.com $39 each!!!! I almost couldnt believe it. If anybody is interested in a light, cheap wheel.....check 'em out. Online ordering wasnt working, so I called and made the order over the phone. I'll be sure to post pics when I get them in.
Sorry, I didnt ask. I was excited about what I found and I wanted to get right to it and make sure they got my order in.
A quick search on Tirerack for a 2010 Prius with 15" wheels brought up a selection of aftermarket wheels with offsets of +38 and +42. I think these will be ok
Members here have put on Scion FRS wheels which have an offset of +48 with 3mm spacers to clear the brake caliper holders. So I believe you're ok up to +45. Hopefully those light wheels are strong enough, because at that price point, I highly doubt they're forged for strength and light weight. Then again most reputable wheels are overengineered, so you should be ok as long as you don't get crazy with them.
They are definitely cast, not forged.....but Im by no means an aggressive driver. I think they're so vheap just because they're discontinued..but i cant be sure. I know its been hard to find those wheels anywhere else.
Just check clearance after they're mounted between caliper holders and the tire/wheels and the struts. Those seem to be the areas of concern with high offset wheels.
Just my luck, they called me today to say the wheels they have are too damaged to sell, and they dont have any others. The search continues. Im tired of looking at wheels.
Do you really trust your life with a $39 wheel anyway? And this is not a real BBS wheel but I'm sure it costs more than $39
