I am new to the forum and to the Prius... i was just wondering if this was too good to be true. I am getting 60mpg on my commute daily to work.
Do the calculations by miles / gallons of fuel used. Typically 2-5% lower is the actual computed mpg. But yes, it's possible.
Remember, that is one way as well. I made a 2 1/2 hour drive to the Shenandoah/Rappahanock VA area to go hike and coming down the mountain on the way back, over the entire drive I was at like 72mpg. Now granted, on the way there it was lower. So keep in mind, depending on the route it can be much higher one way than back. I usually sit at 58-60mpg displayed to work, and 55-57 on the way home.
Welcome aboard. Obviously you are enjoying the ride. Depending on your winters, you might see a bit of a drop off those numbers but hey, better than just about anything else on the road.
yeah i completely understand that, but my drive home(which is what that pic is from) is going up hill. My elevation is higher where i live to where i work... so my drive to work is going down hill and again i get the same mpg Either way, i am really happy with even 50mpg but ill take 60
so you get the same MPG going to work and going back home? Even with the elevation change? Whats your secret? lol I get 80mpg on the way to work but only 52mpg on the way back
OK.. on my way to work this morning i only got 58.. so i lied. I just feather the gas and use momentum to my advantage My drive consists of some flat driving, some small up/down hills and a big up/down hill over what they call "The Point of the Mountain" here in Utah
Great gas mileage. I am working to improve mine...but the wife is starting to complain each time I make her get out and push. I call it the "bitch and glide".
