Hello, I am new here. I dont have a Prius yet but my close friend does. I am still waiting for my sister to co-sign me so I can get one. I live in San Jose, CA and so far, the dealers says that they sell them for MSRP. None of the ones I read here that got their Prius for $600 less than MSRP. If you are from the Bay Area/Silicon Valley ... how much did you pay for your Prius? Which dealer and who is your salesman? Maybe I can get a good deal there too. I so want a black #3. I dont care for the bluetooth or navigation. I am thinking of just customizing the black leather interior later on. I drive a 1993 Acura Integra now and it's about time I retire this baby, I am the original owner and it still runs great.

Also, if my sister co-signs me (I have bankrupcy in 1998), can I get my name as one of the owners of the car so that I can claim the tax credit? The 2006 tax credit is filed for next year's tax season, right?

Thanks. I enjoy reading the posts here and I have learned so much so that I already know what to do when I do get my Prius.

    God bless everyone!

Hm, when I bought my '06 #6 at Toyota/Steven's Creek down by Lawrenceville Expressway, I paid MSRP, plus destination charge ($580, which seems to be standard according to Edmunds), floor mats ($185, again standard as per Edmunds) a small doc fee (maybe $45 or whatever), DMV fees, and tax.

A friend of mine bought his '06 #6 at Toyota/Sunnyvale on El Camino shortly thereafter, and paid MSRP - $500, if memory serves -- the dealer was offering $250 off by that time (but saying that the delay for new orders had grown), and doubled it due to a deal with my friend's employer.

I witnessed the latter deal as well, and found Toyota/Sunnyvale's finance person to be a bit less pushy and a bit less gouge-happy than the one I dealt with; for instance, he was only asking for ~$2000 IIRC instead of $2500 for the Platinum Ext. Warranty  which neither of us opted for. Both, interestingly, used the "we're not supposed to do this, but we'll still sell it to you if you change your mind in a few days" sales pitch on that. Toyota/SC also gave more bogosities (e.g. saying that you could charge the SKS remote by inserting it in the slot -- which is a bizarre proposition, considering that it uses a non-rechargeable CR2032 cell, IIRC; and verbally defining 'minimum finance charge' in a way that fundamentally differed from the definition on the paperwork, even though I was already reading the fine print and intentionally being very obvious about it. Obnoxious. I think if I throw my maintenance business to one of these two dealers, it'd be T/SV, not T/SC.)

No unwanted dealer-installed accessories or coatings etc were involved. Don't recall the salesmens' exact names, sorry.

MSRP at Toyota 101 in Redwood City. No pressure to buy anything extra like mats. Extended Warranty mentioned but after 1 "no" nothing further. $45 doc fees (standard in CA), registration & other garbage but nothing extra. From initial contract to out the door was 3 days but it could have happened in 1 day.

I ordered mine From Santa Rosa Toyota then waited almost two months and took delivery on January 6th. Paid MSRP, but they added in floor matts and a rear bumper applique sp? I was not about to argue with them as I needed a car and wanted to make sure I got my HOV stickers or it would have been a $31,000 mistake. I still think I got someone elses car, but I was the one calling the dealer asking for it...so I got it! White with grey interior package 7.

Another happy customer of Toyota 101 here. I paid MSRP. Salesman, Bob Romeo, was terrific. Finance lady wasn't pushy either. Great place to deal with as they don't work on commission -- their bonus comes only from "customer satisfaction" surveys.

Had the same experience at Toyota 101. Worked with John Lee, the internet sales guy. From ordering the car I wanted to having the keys took about 3 weeks.

I purchased mine from Hayward Toyota in December '05 at MSRP. Unfortunately, I did have to pay for the floor mats and the bumper applique. No pressure from the finance guy regarding extended warranty. I said "no" once and that was it. It was my 3rd Toyota purchase from that dealer and saleman (Harley). Highly recommended. 2006 Package #6 in Super White/Beige interior.

Thanks for all the responses. Hoping to see some more here.

Well, I have emailed a few dealers and the best one that responded to me was Tracy Toyota. They offer $250 off MSRP for Costco Members. The thing is, I dont want to drive all the way to Tracy to get my Prius and drive it back on the freeway and get knicks all over the paint! So I emailed the others and asked if they have any special deals with Costco or Credit Union members.

I might consider Piercy Toyota since that is 5-10 mins from where I live and hoping to take advantage of the free downtown parking, but Piercy has not responded, maybe they dont want my business.

I will post any updates that might help those who are in a lookout for their future Prius.

Also, have you guys seen a lot of Prius in San Jose??? I have been watching the streets as I drive these past few days and I dont see even ONE! I have not seen one in the SJSU parking lot. I see a lot of them in the Great America/Santa Clara area. In Mission College alone, there are 5 Prius on the Staff parking lot, 2 seaside, 2 silver and a black. Once you drive out to Great America Parkway, you see them every 5-15 minutes!

Thanks again! I appreciate all the posts!

    God Bless!

I'm about 300 yards NE of the Bay Area officially, but I'll chime in anyway.

Purchasing tomorrow at Hanlees in Davis. $750 under MSRP, no floor mats or any other dealer add-on. Just MSRP -$750. This is through the Costco program. Not all dealers are part of that program, certainly, and the amount seems to change daily from zero to $500 to $750.

I paid MSRP for my Pkg #6 today. Daly City (City Toyota).
I found their docs & reg fees to be a bit high ($225 total I think)

I know Sunnyvale Toyota offers $350 off MSRP if you're a
    Costco member.

My Silver Pkg. 8 with gray leather is on order at Capitol Toyota. I called around to Capitol, Stevens Creek, Piercy, and Sunnyvale first week of Jan and found Capitol and Sunnyvale both offered a $350 Costco discount.

Capitol originally said the car would be here in 6-10 weeks, depending on whether it came in the first, second, or third allotment. Later the dealer denied saying 6 weeks and said the minimum wait I was quoted was 8 weeks, which has now gone to 12-16 weeks (other threads talk about shortage).

Two other people in my office in North San Jose drive a Prius and I've seen several parked in the Naglee Park area (downtown San Jose).

If you live downtown, you might want to consider buying in San Jose to get the free parking for meters and city-owned parking lots, all other things being equal. Especially if you frequent the library on weekdays. Parking is high there and there is no library discount. To get the free parking sticker, you must buy from a SJ dealer.

Capitol Toyota is in SJ, right? So, if you buy from them, you can take advantage of the free downtown parking?

Just wondering ... I have not stopped reading the posts here and on priusonline. I am very much interested on getting black leather for my future Prius (I want black exterior) and was looking at Hirose leather seat covers. I think they are a bit expensive. So, I guess I need to shop around once I get my Prius.

Thanks again for the post ... keep it coming.

    God bless everyone!!

How did they get you to $31k? Toyota site prices at $28k+ with leather.

Hi! what a great deal. Did you have pre-approved financing before going to the dealer? Can you PM me the name of your salesman and his number? Thanks!

Congratulations on your new PRIUS!

I was quoted MSRP from Toyota 101 in Redwood City for Package 8. I gave several color choices.

It's been nearly three months since I ordered. Clearly the rumored slowdown in deliveries in not a rumor. I checked with them again today and they can give me no hints as to when I might get my Prius.
