Glare off cup holder solutions???

    Okay, I know I am being picky, but the one thing that drives me nuts about my Prius v 5 wagon is the amount of glare that the shiny silver ring around the console cup holder reflects when the sun hits it which is all the time in the summer. Of all the materials available why Toyota engineers decided to use a bright shiny material is beyond me. Recently, on a long trip I put my e-reader, my wife's purse, A&W napkins, etc., over the cup holder to cut the glare. I even considered taking a black sharpie to it before coming to my senses.

    Top of the center dash is the same way. suggest tinting the windows.

    Good tint on side windows and polarizing wrap around sunglasses does the trick.

    What about some Plasti Dip spray in the color of your choice on the ring? Tape off the surrounding areas and spray several thin coats for a durable thick coat. Lots of videos online with different automotive uses. I'm going to use it on my wheels soon for a darker color.

    Really tint the windows? Sharpie? Just get yourself some polarized sunglasses or clip-ons if your wearing regular glasses, and problem solved. Sunglasses will also help you from getting cataracts later in life, so two problems solved.

    With a small flat head screw driver this can be taken out. There are three tabs to watch for one at 12 oclock, 4 and 8 that holds it in. Once removed sand the plastic to remove the slick clear coat on it. Once that is done you can apply a few coats of your choice of colors in a flat spray paint designed for use on plastic. Be sure to do light coats and let dry well between coats. Then when it get beat up you can always take it out and do it again. I did this with a flat black paint in the last couple days and no more glare.
